Rospotrebnadzor claims the epidemiological situation across Irkutsk region, including Irkutsk and Shelekhov, remains stable, according to Russian media. The Irkutsk Anti-Plague Institute claims it recorded no accidents in its work with pathogenic microorganisms.
In Russia’s Irkutsk region, where plague was previously suspected, workers at local enterprises in Shelekhov were put back on masks after reports of a “especially dangerous infection”. Regional officials still have not officially confirmed plague.
The Moscow Times reports 189 people in Russia’s Irkutsk region were hospitalized with suspected plague after contact with a woman who died. Governor Igor Kobzev says the contacts have no symptoms and lab tests are negative.
