Seeking advice from people in the UK #charitysector!

Where and how do you find dedicated trustees with specific skills and time to spare and who are aligned with your obscure little charity's ethos? Beyond posting in Charity Jobs and LinkedIn?

I'm stuck. Help appreciated.

Wow... My #primatology is clearly not everyone's primatology.

From a paper I've just read: "A critical turning point was reached in research with the recent success in cloning rhesus monkeys ... a major advancement in primatology."

Advancement? Huh. Would the rhesus agree?

This drab damp misty morning is NOT making the idea of getting out of bed and heading off to a four-day festival terribly appealing at the moment... Said the sad lady called me 🤣

"...the pollution is getting worse, not better, despite the regulator’s promise of tougher action"
Officially, the water industry in England is regulated. Practically, it's unregulated. There's no difference between what it does under the eye of the Environment Agency and what it would do if the EA did not exist. The EA is completely useless, by design. www.theguardian.com/business/202...

It finally rained. As expected, #southwestwater dumped more shit into the sea here in Seaton.

I did this in 2022. The goal is to get into the ocean every day (apart from the shit-filled unsafe days) in October, to raise money for @sascampaigns.bsky.social.

Contributions welcome. Link below!

For the first time, (?) I've seen animal #crueltycontent here on @bsky.app. Not the sadistic kind - the "lighthearted fun" that involves putting various animals in really inappropriate stressful situations (e.g. hamster in plastic bottle) and laughing about it. Perfectly legal but honestly not ok.

When they bought the house, the people across the street chopped down 1/3 of the trees that a huge colony of rooks inhabited. Now they seem to be starting on the rest and it's breaking my heart. Why does everything, everywhere need to be chopped down?

It's #WorldOrangutanDay.

I've never had the opportunity to know an orangutan personally - this is good, as the fewer condemned to a captive life, the better.

Please join me in thanking the amazing humans who are fighting daily to save orangutans, one individual at a time. photo - Wkmdia Cmmns

Language that doesn't sit right with me: We could, accurately, refer to these monkeys as #introduced. "Invasive" frames it as though they made the choice and, I think, sets up a response like "well they should pay for that choice! Pesky invaders!" Accepted usage, perhaps, but with consequences.

62 years ago yesterday, for better or for worse, these two tied the knot in Muskogee, Oklahoma (because yeah, mamma was an Okie from Muskogee!).

Apparently my Grammy made dad shave off his beard for the wedding so he'd less like a disreputable beatnik 🤣. Anyway it grew back fast enough!

It was amazingly difficult to get decent #vegan food in #Bretagne last month, but this place (at Plogoff) was an exception, with this beautiful chocolate hazelnut "finger"!

Apart from that, well... don't expect much in the way of (VG) culinary delights, but Brittany is absolutely beautiful 😍

UK #mentalhealth professionals - please advise. We came upon a teenaged boy (est 16 yo) sitting in a rural lane here in Cornwall and he was/is clearly having some sort of episode or breakdown. He was stick-thin, very dirty , and had bloody blisters under his too-big shoes. We spoke with him...1/?
