Occasionally one would come across Linus standing like this on the dining room table, staring out the window either utterly blank, or lost in thought. He wouldn’t move for several minutes. I think of it as his “Jack Torrance” pose.

In recent months Linus enjoyed sunning himself on my roommate’s filthy car. It retained heat fairly well, and gave him a vantage point to keep an eye on the goings-on in the cul-de-sac, always a chief concern.

Linus had a thing for hoses. More than once I would come upon him cuddling with (or attacking) the garden hose. It was especially enticing if there was water running through it, which to Linus seemed to simulate life.
