The Democratic primary for governor of Wisconsin is a really great example of why America needs to switch to ranked-choice voting in primaries. As of now it looks like the winner of the race will prevail with <40% of the vote! No good reason not to switch ahead of 2028.

The Permanent Apportionment Act of 1929, which froze the House of Representatives at 435, using the 1910 census because of racism, sexism, and hatred of cities (which eclipsed rural areas for the first time in US history in the 1920 census). I must see it dead before its hundredth birthday.

I watched A Face in the Crowd recently. (Have knowns about it for years. My mom’s favorite movie.) it has a lot of prescient plot points but one that stood out to me was how Lonesome calls all the studio writers and execs by their Ivy institution and class.
