Happy publication day morning to me!!

Dear friend @chrislintott.bsky.social said on record that it was "Truly unique! Sparkling with charm and interest & uncompromisingly clear".

In person he said "I don't want you to take this the wrong way, but it was surprisingly good" 🥳 Major compliment! 🤗🧪

A very sweet thread
Fifteen years ago tomorrow I had the perfect, and I mean perfect, wedding day. Everything was gorgeous and wonderful and stress free and we have been paying for it every year since with a series of disasters on our anniversaries that are inescapable and have ranged from minor to life-threatening.

Right now, a middle-class nurse pays a higher payroll tax rate than a highly-paid CEO. That's wrong.

It's time to protect Social Security by scrapping the cap so higher-income earners and wealthy investors pay their fair share—preventing benefits cuts for everyone.

"Skilled" vs "unskilled" work is a lie.

It doesn't matter what the job is, it shouldn't be possible to spend most of your waking hours working and still not make enough money to live.

The best thing Strange New Worlds ever did is this performance by the enormously talented Celia Rose Gooding, who has brilliantly stepped into Nichelle Nichols’s legacy and given this character the life she always deserved 🖖🏽

Happy 72nd Birthday to Ruby Bridges, who at the age of 6 desegregated the New Orleans public schools.

She’s younger than 30 senators and our last two presidents—and only 7 years older than Barack Obama.

The past isn’t past.

There’s a term in psychology called naïve realism, which is the tendency to experience your own perception as an objective reading of reality. Instead of thinking, “I do not find this funny,” they conclude, “this is not funny, and therefore the person who posted it must account for the discrepancy.”

fun part if you ask me: higher ed institutions in secular democracies are the closest approximation of a 'marketplace of ideas' as you are likely to find this side of a global revolution and a lot of people who claim to like that idea do not seem to love its results
To think that we live among idiots who think that "elite institutions" have been "captured by leftist ideologues" lmao
Just a reminder, Professor James Orr, Reform UK head of policy, teaches 'ethics' to undergraduates at Cambridge University

Crazy that we hear about Train Drivers who get £60,000 a year for driving a train.

But we never hear about the boss of Tesco who gets £30,000 a day and doesn't even pay tax in the UK.

Or the £250m a day that the likes of Amazon, Vodafone, BP and Shell don't pay in tax.
