Rachel Reid, who wrote the popular “Heated Rivalry” novel, has donated $300k to Annapolis Valley Regional Library, “one of the most significant private gifts” in their history.

Too many people assume that every protagonist is just a stand in for the author, and that their bad deeds are what the author thinks are good. Those people are wrong, and any attempt to appease them will not win them over. They don't want to be won over. They want to be angry and right.

What's gutting about this is that Juniper seems to have had a family who supported and loved her, she was in a community that has been explicitly welcoming to trans people, and a man still murdered her. She was living the life so many trans people can only dream of, and it simply didn't matter.
