I took karate for 6 months when I was 8 and got my yellow belt. I remember every single move so keep it respectful. Darwin (my buddy) in the banner. He/him.

Fix your hearts or die.

His name at the kill shelter was Jacob, the foster tried to change his name to Snoopy, but no one knew what his name was 3 weeks before I got him so I went my own way. He's a beagle, so he's named after the guy on the boat of the same name.
Come watch a grown man try to defend his dipshit friend by encouraging people to use the Nazi pedophile website. Fucking embarrassing.
Why don’t you say it on a site he’s on so you’re not doing this sad little ‘brrrr let’s be cool guys on our little pirate ship that looks like a microbrew meet up?’ Why do this bitchmade little ‘teehee the bad man said bad words?’

fun fact: Balogun in Yoruba basically means "general" or "commander" but most literally translates to "war dad"

While admiring my garden I turned to my gf and said, "Those native plants I planted last month are really going to grow some deep roots with all of this rain we've been having."
It is time once again to discuss the Most Dad Things we have done in the past year. A couple of reminders:
- gender is a social construct, anyone can do Dad Things
- you need not be a parent to do a Dad Thing
- the definition of a Dad Thing is entirely subjective and maybe made up

I’ll go first:

What's so funny about this is that he just immediately dismisses the idea that not wanting to be on a website whose owner regularly posts great replacement theory nonsense is enough of a reason. This is just another example of many of him trying to come up with a Savvy Leftist Take and falling short
i think, end of the day, the real problem with Bluesky is that most of its users are here *because* they want to be in a bubble. and they can tell themselves that it’s just about not being around Nazis it supporting Musk, and that’s part of it, but also there’s a palpable desire to be ensconced.

Watching the US mixed doubles curling team and I just saw a commercial about a different commercial. It was Mr. Beast trying to get people excited about his super bowl commercial. What are we even doing anymore.

I'm definitely going with one of the hard cover volumes from my complete Calvin and Hobbes collection.
Ok, everyone, what book is sacred enough to you to get sworn in on?
Strange takes on Mayor Zamdani swearing his oath on the Qu’ran. It has nothing to do with church & state. The point of the oath is for the person swearing in to do so upon some text that is sacred TO THEM. Some Presidents swore in w/o any book. John Quincy Adams was sworn on a law book. His choice.

Watching a lot of horror movies this season and I think, for me, the worst part about being brutally murdered by a supernatural entity is that I wouldn't get to be all smug about being right to the friends/family/cops who didn't believe me.

Why isn’t bell hooks’s writing around men and love not seen as a progressive text on how men can get laid, i.e., form healthy romantic relationships with people in their lives?

the week democrats vetoed the GOP trans sports ban bill, they aired 59 segments.

OK, this is wild.

In September 2023, geophysicists across the world started monitoring a very odd signal coming from the ground under them.

It was picked up in the Arctic. And Antarctica. It was detected everywhere, every 90 seconds, as regular as a metronome, for *nine days*.

What the HELL?

Bullshit Jobs is truly one of the worst books ever written, not just for the abominable influence it’s had on the world (the worst since The Population Bomb in this respect) but because of how incredibly poorly written it is

It's funny thinking back to the argument that Dems couldn't get rid of the filibuster when they were in power because they'd miss it once the GOP was in power.

It's remarkable to me though how many still can't see, even if they acknowledge this in reflective moments, they essentially organise their political life so much around resisting the smug moralists they are de facto agents aiding the political project of the authoritarian right. Bad centrist habit.

I'm currently watching the new season of Invincible and have been pretty good about figuring out who the voices belonged to so far in the series. I don't know what was wrong but it just hit me at the end of episode 4 that the narrator was @pftompkins.bsky.social. Yet another reason to watch.

The US airplane saunters up to the mic during Karaoke Night at the Golden Palm, a mischievous gleam in its eye. A familiar opening melody starts to play over the speakers. The US airplane belts out, "Tell me if you think it'd be alright..." The rest of the line is drowned out as the crowd goes wild.
