But I do wonder about the potential impacts of the dry and heat for next years butterflies.
Loads of Brimstone in the first part of the year but hardly any later, all went into hibernation?

Ivy bees and Ivy blooms started early, I wonder if the cooler conditions will now prolong their season?

Lots of Ivy blooms out in Sussex too, along with lots of Ivy bees 🐝 zooming around the blooms and the surface of the ground

With host plants shrivelled & dust dry, I wonder how some species will be next year?
I don't think I have seen Rockrose wilting as much as I saw today.
Silver-spotted Skipper, will they still lay on the dry leaves? Probably.
Wall Brown, how will gen 3 be?
Peacock a 2nd gen in September?

I've had my first too, in Ovingdean, near Brighton.
They seemed to mome in on my composter, as if they could smell it!

It is like 2009, when we had loads coming in.

I saw probably 100 on a short cycle on the Downs behind Brighton

I also saw an astonishingly early Meadow Brown today!
