Shell is 100% Government funded in the UK.

You pay all their wages, for all their Oil Rigs and all their tankers.

But the fuel belongs to them.

They really are laughing at you.

Universal basic income ensures that everyone has the ability to express basic demand for basic goods and services. This is market improving. Markets can't differentiate between 0 and Ø. A store can fail because not enough customers. But is that because they didn't like it or they did but were broke?
South Korea's UBI pilot shows major success 1 year.

Local businesses grew by 2,000 and rural population went up 4.7%. Most of the money was spent, causing "an increase in new businesses in essential services such as restaurants, cafes, supermarkets, and hair and beauty salons."

This was a striking perspective
The food people need is in grocery stores. They just need the permission slips (cash) to access it. Food banks should not exist. They are a symptom of failed policy. They exist because universal basic income doesn't. We need UBI and it's a fight because the people doing this are doing it on purpose:
NEW: Food banks across America are being overwhelmed by surging demand.

Scott MacFarlane went inside to see the crisis firsthand. Here’s what he found:

Basic human rights should not be conditional on one's ability or willingness to sell their labour. It's fucked up. every single fucking UBI study ever conducted has proven that UBI improves people's lives & lets them contribute to society *more*, not less. Enough with the fucking studies already!

Thousands of university jobs lost too, and barely a peep either.
I think it's absolutely mad that today there's a *national news story* about 400 oil platform workers losing their jobs, and the government being blamed.

25% of the UK TV industry lost their jobs in the last 4 years and we never hear a peep about it!

Some jobs are 'real jobs' I guess.

This is also my problem with a job guarantee being seen as an alternative to basic income. What are you doing fighting for more comfy chains instead of freedom from being chained? Why toil for someone else with power over you instead of the right to look them in the eye and telling them to fuck off?

Cash transfers to low income mums may slow biological aging in children

“1000 low-income mothers were randomly assigned to receive $333 or $20 per month; by age 4, children in the higher-transfer group showed epigenetic markers linked to a slower pace of biological aging”

Paine's key insight: property comes in two kinds. Natural property (the earth, air, water) belongs equally to everyone by birth. Artificial property (what people build and invent) can be owned unequally. Basic income is our fair share of the first kind.

In 1797, Thomas Paine proposed a national fund to pay every person compensation for the natural inheritance lost when land became private property. That's basic income, two centuries before the term existed.

Something hard to unsee:

Imagine Earth has 100 people. 20 of them claim all the land. The other 80 have no choice but to work it, pay rent, give their means, just to survive.

That's not an economy. That's a toll booth.

UBI just returns each person their fair share of the commons.
