I think the people who keep pointing out that Obama opposed gay marriage aren't really making a direct correlation with what is happening with trans rights today.

I think one of the reasons Dems are being pushed to adopt anti-trans positions by consultants is that this is a really favorable landscape for Dems this year. Like, regardless of who the candidates are or what they believe, they'll probably do pretty well.
