This is a thread of memes about Kash Patel’s defense of bestiality sent to me by current and former FBI employees. Thank you for your attention to this matter. 🧵 1/

Friend shared this video of a man unveiling the library he hid when he fled Damascus in 2011. It’s incredible

One of the lesser-known fantastical creatures I talked about last week at @laworldcon.bsky.social was the bonnacon. It appears in medieval bestiaries as a bull-like creature with horns curved back on themselves and therefore useless to protect itself. Instead, it expels flaming poop in defense.

One quote that always makes me laugh: asked what her pet peeve in life was, she said, “Well, nobody realizes I got a great ass.”

It is never ever ever ever going to work out better for you if you talk to police before speaking with a lawyer.
What’s a thing from your area of expertise (or special interest) that you think it would behoove everyone else to know?

One of the best parts of being a historian?

Changing my mind.

Sometimes one letter or one newspaper article sends me back to rethink everything I thought I knew.

That's not failure.

That's good history. 🗃️

I recently finished knitting a baby blanket. For a decent section of it, I listened to Olivia Waites's NOBODY'S BABY. My card for the parents includes the following two quotes (yes, I have the ebook, too — it's *good*).

In the realm of questions posed during Senate hearings, this one from Ossoff -- "Isn't it humiliating to be unable to answer this?" -- ranks right up there with "Have you no sense of decency, sir, at long last?"

I mean, we know why, but it should be articulated:

It's because Trump is incapable of seeing other humans as people. He lacks any Theory of Mind, and is only capable of understanding humans in terms of what they will do to benefit him something. Otherwise he has no concept of humanity.
Trump just delivered his first speech after the death of his allegedly dear friend Lindsey Graham, which happened less than 48 hours ago. He didn't mention him once. RIP.

All the Enola Holmes movies AND The Other Bennet Sister KEEP saying "please come with my husband and I" etc, literally every time. Not just Kitty and Lydia either but all of the educated people.

They're delightful shows and movies. Why are they doing this to me?
