Professor of psychology, at Northeastern University & Supervising/Training Analyst-Boston Graduate School of Psychoanalysis
Love it!
I thought Shelder's conclusion in his article published in 2016 was very interesting. It made me want to check his citations, as he said to not trust anyone, even himself. Spoiler... All of them exist and were correctly cited! @drwilliamsharp.bsky.social #Psyc4666

Torture statistics enough, and they’ll admit to anything-MT
Many times, we take statistics at face value. It was very interesting to see how publication biases can also affect the outcome of research. On that same note, statistically significant doesn’t mean it’s meaningful @drwilliamsharp.bsky.social #Psyc4666

Not 'just wrote', but caught the crux of the issue. Being moderate these days is really tough, but necessary.

Is Dr Sharp more likely a reader or an avid lifter?

Based on being a professor, more likely a reader.

But, as often can happen in personality assessments, some questions create false binaries. Why not both?

“The physicist Max Planck claimed that science progresses at the speed with which the old guard dies off. The fall of the psychoanalytic empire seemed a little quicker than that.”

Throw back Thursday. #TBT
For those unfamiliar- I am holding a “phone” that was attached to a wall and the piece of it in my hand was attached to that with a cord. Best upgrade was when the cord reached all the way to the living room and you could be mobile with it.

Had an good time at my first machine massage- I liked the preheat the AI arms did before working an area, was really impressed with the pressure and control I had over that, and its ability to find muscle insertion points and knots! @aescape

Finished Richard Gadd’s #HalfMan …

***Spoilers***

Yikes. Great analysis here:

“This brings us back full circle to the most shocking scene from the first episode, when the young Niall creeping out from under Ruben’s arms and discovers, to his horror, cum in his pants.”
Psychoanalysing Half Man’s disturbing finale:

Understanding dreams and the collective unconscious can help us make sense of Richard Gadd’s superb second series

Psychotherapy stands at a crossroads. It can continue to operate as a collection of competing tribes, or it can finally organize around the processes that make change possible. The emergence of AI has not created this dilemma—it has simply made it unavoidable. - @AllenFrancis x.com/allenfrances...
