The earth is careening through space and oblivion at 67,100mph, spinning at about 1000mph.
It's absolutely terrifying.
We all need a tether, a foundation to hold onto.
What do you live with so it takes away the fear?
Pinned
I've often felt that the biggest issue on the left (and in America in general) is that they were being sold these invisible things called "values" and "ideals." We fiercely cling and smother them in our arms, "These are my ideals they're mine!" that frees us from the guilt of acting like the right.
It’s my unfortunate duty to tell you that a lot of the media platforms and personalities who told you they were on your side and were dedicated to protecting democracy were selling you a product

And Leif Eriksson is still played by Matt Damon.
'Leif Eriksson Discovers America' by Hans Dahl (1849-1937)

And how it would have looked today if Hollywood filmed it ;)

glad you feel you have the permission structure in place to tell trans people to cheer for continued dehumanization & aggressive rollback of our civil rights, as endorsed by alleged allies, & call us enemy idiots if we don’t cheer. that must be gratifying for you.

you are not clean. you are evil.
i think about that series of posts and one of my favorite kurt vonnegut lines, which i’ve found immensely clarifying since i read it as a teen:

“where’s evil? it’s that large part of every [person] that wants to hate without limit, that wants to hate with god on its side.”

i think about this series of posts almost every day of my life and especially lately because the core idea applies to just about any institutional organization’s leadership right now cosigning fascist policies that endorse excluding trans people from parts of society or stripping away civil rights.
just astonishingly well put.

remember when a member of richard spencer’s entourage fired a gun into a crowd during his college speaking tour and they kept letting him speak on college campuses? it was about two months after a woman was murdered at an event he was headlining.

i think it is bad that the president is that helm of a deranged cult of personality
Trump: "Please right your right hand. I pledge to the greatest president in the history of the United States. That loves us so much he can't even breath. That I will go out with my family, my friends, I'll do it any way - I don't care if I'm registered or not, I'm going to try to cheat like hell..."

A springboard post for pinning, for links to various key threads on bastion theory, fratriarchy, why Harry Potter is class eugenics, and whatever else comes along.
your intermittent reminder that the left/right axis is a spatial metaphor, not a reality, that the "centre" is not in fact a moderate middle ground but rather the *centre of power & privilege* protected by the vulgarly overt antisocialists operating on behalf of the polite paternalist antisocialists

Enjoy every sandwich, Bruce. You've given us all so much over the years, and I do selfishly hope we get more in the time left to you.

Fuckkkkkkkk nonbinary Ax is something I didn't know I always wanted but I do, I love it, it's a fantastic idea.
On Earth 2, we can't believe how good the new HBO Animorphs show looks. "They nailed the morphing," people enthuse. The nonbinary actor playing Ax's human morph is cutting it up on the Las Culturistas podcast. The actress playing Rachel has handcuffed herself to a data center

Broke: tax the billionaires
Woke: take their nuclear bunkers and the money they've set aside for leaving the planet
this is not where the 1% will go to restart civilization after a nuclear attack

they will die, like the rest of us
This is where the 1% will go to restart civilization after a nuclear attack.

But it for me thinking: what if the uber wealthy built these bunkers for more people — and not for nuclear attacks but for the climate crisis that will get us all — instead of trying to leave the planet?
