This is how living in a community is supposed to work, btw. Humans are supposed to get benefits from sharing resources and infrastructure and working together for common goals that improve things for everyone.
It's the basis of our larger social organization as a species.

Almost by definition if you were born in this country you have received more in government benefits (only some of which were direct) than you will ever pay in taxes your entire life
TBH lot of people are on public assistance and don't even realize it, because it's not explicitly framed as govt assistance.

People pretending like "the rule of law" is some benevolent force really need to ask themselves whether a law is any worse if it's done through executive order or passed by a vote. What you're complaining about is the abandonment of procedure, as if procedurally attacking minorities is acceptable
