It looks like Emerge does one of my pet peeves, teaching “blends” as a separate unit. This increases cognitive load on students as they have to remember more units!

This guy flew out of a tree right in front of me the other day (Spokane, WA)

You may want to save this, in case you want to use it soon. No reason.

Christmas Eve spread: marinated chickpeas, oranges with goat cheese and pistachios, smoked sardines, French bread, cheeses, and honey.

Does Mike Johnson want to tell this guy I saw at the rally that his message is un-American?

Don't think trying to paint No Kings as a "Hate America" rally is really working out.

Mark your calemdars! Coming this week, 9/26!

I had a great time talking with Melissa and Lori about interventions for upper elementary students, and I'm excited for you to hear how evidence-based practices grow readers.

Time for a cover reveal! I am so in love the cover of my upcoming book, Reading Beyond the Basics, coming this fall from @solutiontree.bsky.social (Pre-order links below). The design team really captured something that I love about teaching reading - the magic. #ScienceOfReading #SOR

Saw these old "friends" in a classroom today. Y'all, Eagle Eye and Skippy Frog need to retire and let their grandkid Blending Bluebird inherit the family business.

My late winter goal was to photogrqph a Norther pintail. I finally found some after a few weeks of eBird stalking. America's national wildlife refuges, ftw!

Tomorrow! #StandUpForScience … reading science! It’s is under threat just like other types of science - government funds much of the research into effective instruction.

Major knitting project completed!

#EduSky, #EduSkyPrimary -- did you know the ongoing research that contributes to the science of reading is under threat? We can speak out against dismantling science.
