I'm a bit leery of anything that might portray fascists sympathetically, but I'd say it's more in the zone of 'fascism is the ideology of cowards and toadies' even with it's depiction of Orsolina's misery as the unloved daughter of rich fascists. Interesting if you're looking for historical fiction!
