We counted, so you don’t have to.

Insane is the number of things Jillian Segal actually HERSELF conceded she had no evidence for, or backflipped on, but went completely unreported.

We Counted All the Errors in Jillian Segal’s Attack on the ABC and SBS
Jillian Segal wants a new body to vet journalism. If she had submitted her evidence in front of the Royal Commission as an article to a newsdesk, it wouldn’t pass fact-check.

Unfortunate that Charlie Pickering should declare Australian of the Year Grace Tame's gig at the ABC as 'problematic' while talking to a serial pest convicted of spousal abuse eh.

This is the UK but cuts to the NDIS will see more vulnerable families and individuals "drop out" of the system. Even the privatisation has led to a loss of duty of care and providers of last resort already
"For close to a decade until Tracey’s death, they had no contact with the council or doctors, despite the younger woman’s worsening disability. They received no benefits or job income, other than Joan’s widow’s pension. By almost all official records and measures, she stopped existing."

I’m a climate scientist. Let me fix this headline.

“Nearly a century ago, scientists showed that burning fossil fuels warms the planet.

Today, we know human emissions account for over 100% of the warming.

Yet dark money and disinformation still work to keep Americans addicted to fossil fuels.”

So, major elements of our employment services system won't be changing at all."

The government isn't rebuilding the Commonwealth Employment Service, but will its proposed changes fix a broken system?

And yet people keep saying it. The other common one is dogs - "without short stays, how can I go on holiday with my dog?" Dunno, mate - how many people should be homeless so your dog can go on holiday?
I feel like making it a bit easier for families to travel isn’t a very good argument for tens of thousands of previously long term rentals now staying empty for 80% of the year during a housing crisis

This is such a ridiculous way to frame the topic, bordering on outright disingenuous. The report this headline is based on includes employer provided sick leave as "income support".

The "more than 8 million Australians on income support" includes 7.5 million people who took any sick leave.

ABC so desperate for a headline that fuels anti welfare rhetoric that they’ve conflated “income support” with “comparatively generous private insurance policies and compensation schemes”.

Since when are these part of ANY ordinary definition of income support?

I have not stopped thinking about this since I first saw this horrific story. What kind of society are we when babies are dying in tents while some people own multiple houses that they rent for prices that so many can't afford. Why are we paying for weapons and not housing for vulnerable ppl?
