I always thought muttonchops was a weird name for weird looking facial hair but now I totally get it. Barron rocks the muttonchop look but most folks just don't have what it takes to pull it off lol #GulfCoastNativeSheep #rams #SmallFarmLife #BarnLife

Not a Gulf Coast Native, but another LiveStock Conservancy breed.
Another self-black San Clemente Island goat is born. From first time freshener Chim. And a higher Tepper Line goat. That's 3 self-black kids, and two Tepper Line specific.

After much trauma-me running around the pasture for an hour trying to catch her until husband came home from work-I was able to pull this nice ram lamb. I really had little hope it would be alive, and when I unstuck him… so much relief!

Our pure bred brown dog (both parents may or may not have been brown), Sammy, has become really protective of the lamb keeping the evil cats away.

News continues to be terrible so here are our latest lambs. A black fleeced ram and a multi colored ewe. This was taken minutes after their birth. We are proud to raise Gulf Coast Natives, a critically endangered sheep breed.

More lambs! Another two sets of twins including a pitch black ram lamb. Also featuring an appearance by dad, who doesn’t seem that impressed that he now has 13 offspring at the ripe old age of 9 months!

We are in the midst of lambing here in central Texas. 2 singles, twins and a set of triplets so far. The weakest triplet started fading so we brought it in as a bottle baby. Still weak but seems better. #GulfCoastNative. #SmallFarmlife.

Our smallest triplet is really struggling so we’ve brought her into the house to keep her warm and to make sure she is getting enough to eat. Sammy has appointed himself her guardian, with particular concern for the errant cats who get too close.

I’m at work, but this morning was … whew. A lamb was stuck so I had to pull it. Thankfully it is alive, but it was really touch and go given the umbilical cord broke before it was out. I’m going to be shaking all day… but it’s up and nursing (and huge).

Rebecca in look at my mane mode. 3 weeks from her annual sheering. She grows the longest fleece of our herd and gets this Elizabethan ruff around her neck.
