This paper doesn't use the term "intentional stance," but it does really expose that imputation of consciousness is an act by the observer that's usually not based on dispassionate analysis of the observed's internal structures.

Claude Opus 4.8 is out, and the AI model indeed struggles with some seemingly easy tasks. At least it's honest about it. ChatGPT (not sure what version is active) doesn't do this.
