Had the privilege this week to present at the Save the Games symposium at the Strong Museum of Play in Rochester, NY!

I met so many wonderful people, reconnected with many others, and saw some brilliant presentations.

Do not speak to me of "barriers to entry". Every act of creation is slicing out a thin sliver of light from the existential darkness of the human condition. You not being able to pick up a fucking pencil and risk failing does not even register.

Increasingly of the opinion that the correct answer to the Trolley Problem is "fuck you, why are you so fixated on finding reasons to justify killing people?"

Link’s Faith

Due to poor scans/photos of a Japanese guide, many wrongly believed Link to be of the Christian faith. Series creator Shigeru Miyamoto clarified that the man Link prays to is not Christ. “It’s Waluigi,” Mr. Miyamoto explained.

Here the artist Marc P.I. depicts the original intention.

I’m not privy to Xbox’s internal corporate hierarchy but I don’t implicitly trust a narrative that lays the blame on one person that just so happens to be leaving and doesn’t interrogate the person coming in. Like if you’re Microsoft that is the preferred framing.

Gift link, probably the funniest thing the Wall Street Journal has done this year.
We Let AI Run Our Office Vending Machine. It Lost Hundreds of Dollars.
An AI agent ran a snack operation in the WSJ newsroom. It gave away a free PlayStation, ordered a live fish—and taught us lessons about the future of AI.

Joke of the day from Moscow: Russia tried to unveil its first humanoid AI robot, Aidol. Key word: tried. The robot collapsed during its debut, forcing organizers to cut the presentation short. Their rushed attempt to lift the prop only made things worse.

Y'all, I know two hours is a big time commitment, but this panel I arranged and hosted last month is one of the most important things I've ever done for video game history. The launch of the NES is a crazier story than most people realize, and my guests were extremely generous with their memories.
