This is your occasional reminder that generative "AI" in particular could have been developed on public domain materials and/or licensed and compensated works but the major players intentionally, methodically and systemically chose to steal labor from working creative folks instead

1. Enter home with first load of groceries.
2. Greet cats.
3. Begin singing "Hello kittens" over and over to the tune of "Hello Muddah, Hello Fadduh".
4. Exit home for second load of groceries.
5. Realize you are still singing and there are a number of people silently passing.
6. Panic.

I don't really ever see the term "artistic license" come up very often anymore, and I feel like it would settle a lot of confusion regarding "plot holes" and "mistakes."

I used to be really embarrassed to tell people that I first heard a band or song I really liked, or discovered a book I loved, when it was featured or adapted in something grossly commercial, like an ad or in a movie.

But the only people who judge for that are people whose opinions are dumb.

"Boy am I glad that my opinion on this doesn't matter" is something I find myself saying more and more. Maybe everyone should be saying it. I just don't understand how people can get so riled up about situations where them being riled up will accomplish nothing other than a stomach ache.

You know that thing where someone says out loud "who would possibly want/do/believe such a thing?" and you try offering a hypothetical thought process and suddenly this person is arguing with you as if you're the root cause?

That's Reddit.

"Mister Cellophane" should have been the song from Chicago up for all the awards.

There's my cold take.

in other words TOM WAITS or BOB DYLAN singing their songs and connecting to the infinite are the most potent and powerful versions of that connection, not some 'dream' version with a 'perfect' singer. the antenna itself is a very important part of the transmission

I have to skip introductions for novels or comic collections, especially if it's by a famous author or something. They ALWAYS spoil the frickin' thing.
