A lot of Orbán's American fans are saying that this election proved he was never an authoritarian in the first place.

This is completely wrong — and, in fact, betrays a complete misunderstanding of both Hungarian politics and modern authoritarianism.

Here's why.

New, from me: The federal government is required to track job satisfaction among its employees.
The Trump admin stopped collecting the data, so a nonprofit stepped in.
The results show that a collapse in morale and zero trust in Trump agency leaders. 🧵

Russia’s war on 🇺🇦

Russia isn’t winning
Its 3 day military operation where it aimed to seize control of all of Ukraine is just days off entering its 5th year & holding less territory that it did in early months

But its storytelling about the war frames it as if it is.

Putin isn’t really winning. Europe needs to make that clear
Behind Russia’s victory narrative in Ukraine is a system under strain. To fight back, the ‘middle powers’ must work harder on their own story

The EU’s new budget debate isn’t just about money — it’s about power and participation.

By centralising decisions in national governments, the Commission risks sidelining regions and civil society — the very actors who make policies work on the ground.
