Interest in the History and Culture of the Nawa Peoples of Central America. Currently learning Witzapan Nawat. (Witzapan = Santo Domingo De Guzman, El Salvador)
Another way we can wish each other a happy/good day of the dead is, ”yek tanestuk pal ne mijmikini“ which is a more literal translation.

A sort of direct translation is:
Ken = how
Ti- = you
Nemi = walk/are

Or the more natural translation of “Ken tinemi?” is “How are you?”

So in Witzapan Nawat to ask someone how they are you say “Ken tinemi?” (Gehn TEE•nemee)

In Witzapan some common greeting you can say are:

Yek peyna (PAy•nah) = good morning

Yek tiutak (TEE•yoo•tahk) = good afternoon

Yek tayua (TIE•yoo•wah) = good night

Kuskat means necklace/jeweled necklace in Nawat. So Kuskatan can be understood to mean “Place of Jewled Necklaces” in Nawat.
