you only have to read the Court's public corruption jurisprudence to realize that a bipartisan belief on SCOTUS is that it is almost ipso facto impossible for a public official to commit a crime related to the office they hold. which is insane when you spell it out, but also an accurate summation.
i'm not a "both parties are the same" person, that's obviously not true, but it is true that everyone in the federal government exercises class solidarity with each other to some degree, and for SCOTUS that degree is something in the neighborhood of 99%
The fascist monopolization of US media, intent on ending what's left of democracy on behalf of billionaire mobsters, was finalized by a Democratic-appointed SCOTUS justice.

"bribes are only illegal if you call them bribes and make it super explicit that you're doing bribery and even then eh have you considered letting it slide" (McDonnell v. US) was a unanimous holding joined by Ginsburg, Kagan, Sotomayor, and Breyer btw
it is lowkey a top 5 worst SCOTUS case of all time. all the justices who signed on should be in jail for it.

Copyright is the right to copy & use a work of media. Owners of the work have that right. A corporation training AI doesn’t unless the owner says so. So say the courts as of 9/30 (& a US Copyright Office statement last year).

The argument is over.

Found the email I sent when I got accidentally added to the faculty listserv of an orthopedic surgery clinic and nobody would remove me so I sent this email to all faculty/staff/med students and they removed me almost immediately

Thrilled the D&D team is getting involved.

Unfortunately, a long term trend since Hasbro bought Wizards of the Coast has been corporate abuse, most obviously seen in the regular holiday layoffs of staff.

This should be great for the people AND for the game.

I am sure there is some legal constraint they're operating under, but when 95% of phone calls are scams, y'all've got to be more upfront about who you represent. "A personal business matter" reads as "I am a scam and want to keep you on the phone as long as possible."

You can't get anyone in political media to say it plainly, but GOP strategy for several decades now has been built around the fact that its core goals/policies are *wildly unpopular*. Everything depends on a) polluting the information environment, b) cementing unfair structural advantages, & c) $$$.

as with ex-Nazis, I believe that someone can change, but they still should not be in any position of authority or prominence. you don't get to turn your offense into a lateral career move.

when you make programs universal, they are both easier to administer & far more resilient long term.

means testing is inefficient. medical gatekeeping for HRT & gender dysphoria diagnosis is just means testing wearing a lab coat.

Before the Trump-GOP tax law, corporations paid a 35% rate.

Now they pay 21%.

For the first time in nearly a century, the average American family pays a HIGHER effective tax rate than corporations.

They flipped the script on working people.

Longwell explicitly acknowledged that the Kamala Harris campaign followed her strategy to the letter. One would think that, when the candidate then loses the popular vote, people would stop listening to you as a political adviser. But nope. She is as popular as ever.
