"you can't really talk about migrations and deportations in [country in the global north]" is just an abject lie. We've been talking about these things for approximately my entire fucking life and it never seems to end.
You can't really talked about migration and deportations in Germany. That gets you cancelled. So people don't talk about it and vote AfD instead. That's the basic issue and goes far beyond Sachsen-Anhalt, which is why yesterday's AfD win is so important...

astonishing that the guy who had the easiest route to Labour leader/PM ever due to everyone loathing Keir Starmer, on the basis of him not being Keir Starmer, and who got a nice polling bump for not being Keir Starmer... has in fact immediately pivoted to behaving like Keir Starmer
Andy Burnham has retreated from his longstanding calls for the so-called Elgin Marbles to return to Greece, now saying that the future of the 2,500-year-old carvings is a matter for the British Museum to resolve.

"capitalism seeks to disguise itself", like retrospectively claiming pre-capitalist norms like markets as capitalist, but also claiming the negative consequences of the freedom (and therefore power) of capital as un-capitalist
Sorry if I’m being obtuse, but the words capitalism, mix-economies, socialism, and communism had clear definitions when I took economics in college. Besides the US hasn’t been a capitalist country for quite some time. It’s now a corporatocracy/plutocracy.

To explain for foreigners: our energy regulator rubber-stamps price rises; the water regulator tuts while rivers fill up with human shit; the press regulator wags an occasional finger, and the national equality body enforces press campaigns against groups of people they hate and wish to damage.
Britain, where the national equality body is a boobyhatch jam-packed with wingnut cranks who fervently believe their job is creating weapons for police to hammer minorities that the press hates and wants to harm.

LOL Keir Starmer “never had a faction” in the same sense that Ronald McDonald doesn’t own any burger restaurants, the Jaguar bonnet ornament isn’t driving the car and Mickey Mouse wasn’t the showrunner producing Andor. Can we be less insulting than this, lads.

I again point out that “The Bolsheviks are conspiring with the untermenschen to sap our will to power, and - by hidden, sneaky means - to undermine and destroy the Reich” is not just similar to the content of Mein Kampf. *It is* Adolf Hitler’s sales pitch, it was right at the core of the project.

Britain’s likely next prime minister Andy Burnham is lining up James Purnell, who previously served as a minister under Tony Blair, as his chief of staff in 10 Downing Street.

It's peak Burnham to concoct a frankly ridiculous plan, but to also make a loadbearing component of that plan be "win a seat Labour are projected to get buried in." Got to say I'm not confident he's going to thread this needle.

I will say that one of the formative experiences of my youth was around the original wave of the BNP's rise was my parents telling me exactly where they keep the documents I'd need to seek refuge in Turkey in case it went tits up. To put in context how long this has been a tension for some of us.
When supporters of Farage, Robinson and the broader Islamophobic project in UK politics (which extends beyond them alone) committed rampages across the country, some of my muslim friends received, for the first time, messages from their parents saying it was time to get them out of the country.

when bigots say shit like "mass transition regret is inevitable" what they mean is that their goal is to make society so hostile to trans people that trans people decide to go back into the closet. thats why a bunch of terfs got all depressed when trans didn't go away after that supreme court ruling
Why, after years of scrutiny, isn’t there any evidence that large numbers of children were given irreversible treatments without assessment?

I remember when Turkey had huge anti-government protests and I'll tell you this, not a single British Turk I met through that was begging the big boys to lay waste to our parent's home country. I have nothing but contempt for the people who beg America to do the work they're too weak to see through.
It isn't a betrayal of one's progressive values to witness members of a country's diaspora dancing in the street and rejoicing at news of their home nation being bombed or the slaughter of hundreds of their compatriots, and question the goodness of their intentions or clarity of their moral compass.

I mean, this is the third PM in a row to be elected amid much fanfare about how great they would be, who has absolutely sucked shit and quickly tanked to despised public enemy status. Three looks like a trend, doesn’t it. And it’s not like nobody predicted this one would be terrible.

Yes, because they are not leaders, and they never were: they’re are *vassals* of a foreign emperor. And so were all of their predecessors, back to 1945. And now it’s finally undeniable, but that won’t stop people who are paid to deny it, continuing to deny it.
