Appreciation for Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s fun and wholesome moments with kids.

GOP bill signings: "Look, kids, you can work in the meatpacking plants when you're 12."
Kids at GOP bill signings: portraits of restrained sorrow.

Meanwhile, Mamdani is surrounded by genuinely jubilant kids. The politics of joy is ... a joy to watch.

There is a difference between using kids as props versus involving them in the political process, and this is a beautiful example of involving the children and showing them respect. Well done by Mamdani and team. A simple way to bring joy and inspire the next generation.

Today, I signed an Executive Order temporarily repealing bedtimes in the City of New York so that kids of all ages can watch our team in the NBA Finals.

As Mayor, you’re forced to make many difficult decisions. This was not one of them.

Go Knicks.

This right here.
Ancillary benefit of Mamdani: teaching a generation of kids to be politically involved.

NYC, we're running 2K for 2-K.

That's right: we're hosting a 2-kilometer race with New York Road Runners while signing families up for free child care for 2 year-olds.

Sign up, lace up, and sign up again for 2-K starting June 2.

New York City, we have no excuse to be bored this summer. The map at Nyc.gov/summer is full of free and affordable stuff to do -- sports, music, arts, movies, video games and more -- in every borough.

The city is your backyard. Get out there and enjoy it.

It was wonderful to celebrate Eid-al-Adha at Gracie Mansion with so many of New York’s young people. Eid Mubarak!

Mayor Mamdani’s childcare initiatives, already making a difference for families ⬇️
Hasn't even been a year and Zohran's governance is having a massive impact on my family. Our daycare was able to open a 15-seat 3K program because of the 2,000 extra seats the admin funded. Everyone we know got in somewhere they wanted. This is gonna save us almost 50 grand.

There’s nothing Mayor Mamdani won’t do to show how much he loves kids

The path to universal child care is now six blocks shorter. Thanks to our expanded 3-K programming, families will have access to affordable programs closer to home.

That means less time spent commuting and more time focused on what matters most: our children, our families, and our communities.

Something I've loved about Mamdani so far is that he has done things centering the importance of kids and their value to communities. It's not just policies supporting kids, but events like the Bergen Bike Bus which send a message that kids deserve the right to move freely around cities.
Bc this country doesn’t really see kids as people or value their existence. In any other country, children are exalted. There’s more of a community responsibility for them as opposed to a burden or inconvenience.

Love the soccer jersey-shirt-tie combo
New York streets belong to New Yorkers, and Soccer Streets are for the kids.

We’re turning the block outside your school into a car-free playground and World Cup celebration.

Now until June 26, you’ll find Soccer Streets in front of 50 public schools across all five boroughs. Let’s play!

More Mamdani and kids fun - now on bikes!
Rode the Bergen Bike Bus today to make a big announcement:

We’re redesigning Bergen Street and Dean Street, from Court Street to East New York Ave — adding new bike boulevards and more pedestrian space.
Safer rides to school for New York City kids coming soon.

Even MORE Mamdani + Obama + kids cuteness to enjoy
Spent Saturday with President Obama and New York's Cutest — turns out my first name is Mayor and I need to be doing more squats.

Here’s to building a City where families can thrive and every classroom is full of this much joy.

For too long, bureaucracy kept 7 child care centers across our city empty — spaces that should have been alive with laughter instead collected dust.

We've run through that red tape. This fall, all 7 will open their doors, bringing an additional 240 free 3-K seats & real relief to working families.

So much Mamdani (and Obama) and kids cuteness tonight

It feels so refreshing to see these two leaders genuinely enjoy interacting with kids.
Child: I know your name. Mamdani.

Obama: What’s his first name?

Child: Mayor.
