This is so weird. I'd gone to visit the Bucks Archives on Monday and, before the event, east-west rail came up as a topic (I want to visit Winslow sometime) and someone mentioned this exact topic. Then you posted this.

I did a non-Halloween version of this a while back (on the back of an @ianvisits.co.uk recommendation). It's an experience and worth doing. The journey through the tunnel takes around 9 minutes each way, if that helps anyone.

I may just send RNLI Christmas cards. Yes, the address is valid.

We’re currently staying in a village w/ an RNLI station. People are overwhelmingly supportive of the RNLI & the RNLI really do appreciate the support. As I told one “The ocean of love for the RNLI will wash away the right wing hate’

Astrophotographer Adam (AJ) Smadi caught this image a few hours ago from Washington state.

A thin crescent Moon, sunlight illuminating the rugged lunar surface.

And 2,400 times farther away—and on the other side of the Sun—mighty Jupiter, and its moons Io (left) and Ganymede (right).

Removing basic amenities such as laundry rooms and cramming more prisoners in the same square footage doesn’t sound like it will help with the crisis in prison conditions.

Which is fine if all you want from prison is temporary warehousing of people.

Less so if you want to stop people reoffending.
Alex Norris, the justice secretary, laid out plans to tackle overcrowding ahead of the prime minister returning to parliament

Data centres are springing up everywhere, using massive amounts of energy and water. I’ve signed @friends-earth.bsky.social’s petition calling for a pause on new data centres until the government gets a grip on the situation. Will you join me? action.friendsoftheearth.uk/petition/put...

Just checked with people who sit at Ghent University's board of governors: Fake News.

Disciplinary proceedings against Nathan Cofnas are still ongoing.

(Make of the other communication what you will)
Nathan Cofnas and the US Ambassador to Belgium say that the University of Ghent have now lifted his suspension, thanking the US government for supporting him (with threats of retaliation).

The Ambassador says that Cofnas will be able to complete his one year appointment to March 2027.
