Very excited for 209! My username is a CS reference haha.
I am unqualified to answer this question rn because of my project’s status, but I definitely am planning to make an attempt at letting some portion of my piece guide my decisions, similar to how Patty mentions that sometimes the environment just calls for certain additions #hwa7 #revision

A Third Voice can be an element or presence that exists without direct / intentional birth. It arises naturally from the work, and is more interpreted within the context which nurtures it. It serves to add depth and meaning without artificial interruptions #hwa7 #definingthethirdvoice

Patty presents the idea of defying norms, emphasizing the importance of not settling and rather exploring gaps in the unestablished… in the sense of questioning and contrasting expectations #hwa7 #pattyandsurrealism

One constraint discussed was budget. It wasn’t discussed as being a big deal, it was just mentioned as a common key factor in all films. However, Patty mentions only spending $100-200, which inspires me to try to make better use of unique resources I have in non-standard ways #hwa7 #budgetconstraint

One prop that felt charged is the figure from The Simpsons. It stuck with me because of the character's expression, the placement, & the eery feeling. In terms of my piece, I feel I should branch away from my comfortable zone & explore how smaller details can be used to elevate #hwa7 #notiustprops

I ran out of storage lol so no screenshot, but Patty‘s laughter while talking about props @ around 16:20 made me smile because I love the genuine happiness about Painted Dreams. It’s been hard to keep my spark, so I hope I can laugh this much while talking about my career one day #hwa7 #pattyin209

Omg $100-200 is INSANE. That’s awesome. It further motivates me because Patty made great use of pre-owned resources + simply purchased enhancements to complete the vision. I think this would be a great exercise for myself. Lastly, it really shows that talent and skill is limitless #hwa7 #pattyin209

The questions have been great so far! I loved hearing about the setting where the films were made. The humble beginning in contrast to the idea of a Hollywood production level really adds to the pieces as they are more personal and real / authentic #hwa7 #pattyin209

I love that you describe Painted Dreams as weird haha, it reassures similar thoughts I expressed regarding the imagination it displays and the way it does so. I haven’t seen anything like it, and I honestly feel inspired to stop confining my creativity + instead challenge it #hwa7 #pattyin209

I actually didn’t know what a soap opera was. The concept of growing with the characters would likely create a deep connection. Patty mentions telenovelas… I LOVE THEM. They were also not appropriate to watch in elementary school haha, but I clocked in every day after school! #hwa7 #pattyin209

At this moment, Patty mentions having a collection of childhood figures. I feel like ideas were formed in a way that is similar to how children form their own worlds while playing with different toys. Patty didn’t directly answer your q, but I think inspo = figures + memories #hwa7 #pattyin209

TV major & English minor in combo with theatre experience helped add perspective to everything. I imagined Painted Dreams would take a creative & experienced mind to execute. It reminds me of our convo regarding your background bc I realized how many years have gone into your work #hwa7 #pattyin209

This made me giggle because that is totally a face I make when my peace is disrupted by an alarming idea. I am noticing, again, that I feel more connected to the piece + interested when familiar references are presented. I am reminded of ideas from earlier modules addressing “reality” #painteddreams

Oh my gosh, I just realized separate episodes are being combined. Most would think it‘s obvious due to the word “Season”, but I didn’t think. Now a few more things make sense, like the transitions & multiple intros. I wonder how the impact would compare if I watched them separately #painteddreams

These films are so… weird. I think weird has a negative connotation, but I intend to use it in a more neutral way to describe how unexpected and unique everything about them is. This weirdness has also enabled a range of emotions—confusion, nostalgia, discomfort, ambivalence. #painteddreams

These 2 figurines lead me to feel very unsettled… They are popular characters, so I am confident there are MANY different versions available. This choice adds depth since they are unordinary and have some shock in their expressions. I find myself trying to gather evidence for a reason #painteddreams

Season 2 begins with another image of a feminine person, almost following the structure of Season 1, which I commented on previously since it struck me. This is now causing me to focus more on instances of images as I want to identify a pattern or some meaning, even just vaguely #painteddreams

This segment led me to feel discomfort. I think it stems from not knowing what I am looking at / the purpose of the scene. I am being stared at and I am staring back at two people wiping their faces in complete silence. The visual is layered with a tune, adding to the awkward ambiance #painteddreams
August 9, 2026 at 7:32 PM
I am confused by the flashing of images of men & women. Earlier, there were multiple. Here, and during the grandma anecdote, one woman is focused on. I assume it is symbolic, but I don’t know for what. I also wonder if any are known figures. Perhaps “random“ ppl chosen by features #painteddreams

Patty is ironing a piece that didn’t seem significant… until it was moved and revealed it’s identity: the US flag. I think this is a wonderful revelation, complemented by the speech that mentioned dreaming during the day. I think of the “American Dream“ many are motivated by every day #painteddreams
August 9, 2026 at 7:11 PM
I am enjoying the pace, tone, & sound of Patty’s narration. It sets the scene and encourages my engagement with the piece. I can also analyze / process the visuals while attentively listening to the words spoken. I think it is common for there to be conflict between these components #painteddreams
August 9, 2026 at 7:07 PM
Patty mentions creating a world out of plastic figures. It led me to reflect on my childhood… I really was immersing myself into a new world when playing with dolls, developing it each time. I am thinking about my decisions and all the elements I willingly included when I had control #painteddreams

1. DLMBL serves as an anti-environment because it strays away from the standard piece that holds your hand or reassures your understanding #hwa6 #finaltweetthread

I actually do not know. Perhaps it is the part of everyone that is still vulnerable to influence and guidance... #hwa6 #whoisthatyou

I felt a bit uncomfortable with the idea of straying from what feels typical in formal recordings or films. Adding to the original response from SME #1 for SME #2 introduced additional perspective by interrupting the flow and adding complexity that promotes more questioning #hwa6 #refusalasform
