My mom's got eagle eyes. She goes, "Look! Deer!" I finally spotted a vague brown blob on the move.

This gif is 10x magnification (but through a screen door.)

Seen a lot of people responding to this with “I’m just going to pirate the show,” and I want to gently remind everyone that the central idea in this piece is that there’s no way to engage with the Potter franchise in any capacity that doesn’t benefit Rowling and her bigotry
As a new Harry Potter trailer makes the rounds, it bears repeating that there’s no way to watch this show without supporting J.K. Rowling’s bigotry and the structural violence she’s inflicting on the trans community.
There is no ethical consumption of HBO’s Harry Potter series
You can’t without supporting Rowling’s transphobic bigotry.

if I ever became famous & rich this is exactly what I would want to do with both: quietly give money to people who need it, and write letters with gently unhinged enthusiasm to cheer on everyone I possibly could
Today I've learned that Dolly Parton gave Black high schools band uniforms and wrote Eminem a nice letter when he was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame

#uglydogs, we can spread the word for two lovely cats, right?
He's back in the ICU with "low blood pressure" now, and frankly, this is looking like it might be it. Please, friends, if you or someone you know has a safe, comfortable, loving landing zone for his two cats, please please *please* speak up ASAP.
FRIENDS IN THE NYC AREA: Okay, this is a tough one, but please bear with me.

My wife's lifelong friend has stage 4 pancreatic cancer and is desperately seeking a home for his two cats when that time comes. The elder, Wally, is something like 13 years old and DELIGHTFULLY dim. The younger, Doris,

Just had my first PT session since January! I scooted! And when she pushed me I didn't fall down! (That was an actual test of my trunk strength.)

Introduce yourself as what almost killed you.

Hello, I'm an incision that wouldn't stop bleeding but still managed to create a blood clot that traveled to the lungs.
Introduce yourself as what almost killed you.

Hi, I'm the blood clot that started in Cole's leg before taking a little vacation up into his brain!

THIS THIS THIS. So many people tell me "I don't know if I really NEED a cane..." and friends, as a Certified Disabled Person (tm), I am begging you, if you think there's ANY way it might help you even a LITTLE, try it! If it helps, keep using it! You don't even have to use it all the time!
Side note:

If a walking stick or cane seems like a fun accessory, I (as a disabled person who has had to use a cane from time to time) heartily encourage you to use one!

And if it at all makes your life easier, I encourage you EVEN HARDER TO KEEP USING IT.
Britain’s tiny gaggle of hooting mad elite cranks, who all know each other and relentlessly repeat each other’s idiotic bullshit, are of course not “victims of social contagion”.

I feel like sharing the most dramatic story from my medical adventures tonight, so here we go.

One of the many tests I had done while I was in the hospital was a muscle biopsy. Right before Christmas, they dug in my thigh and cut a piece of the muscle out to see how damaged it was.

Bad news: I think the neuropathy has diminished enough that I can now feel how sore my leg wound is.

Wrote an email that was professional, yet pushed enough buttons to get the recipient to accuse me of verbal assault. And THAT got him kicked out of the organization.

(He was a mild annoyance that had turned into a major pain in my ass and I was absolutely done with his shit.)
Okay, my QUESTION OF THE DAY is…

What is your weirdest actual accomplishment?

Not the biggest necessarily…but the weirdest?
