I want to take a moment to go back to something I touched on in my long-ass sports fairness thread, but this time as the focus:

Tiered citizenship is bad for democracy. It's literally bad for everyone in an entire society, with the possible exception of a few hundred or a few thousand true elites.
I looked up the firm currently arguing for preschools' religious right to refuse to enroll kids w gay parents

turns out it's the same firm that argued for a right to refuse to provide adoption services to gay couples, & to opt kids out of books w LGBTQ characters

Right-Wing Lawyers Keep Pushing a Constitutional Right to Discriminate Against LGBTQ People
This six-justice conservative supermajority keeps telling activists exactly what kinds of cases to bring next.

FYI Apple is now taking a huge 30% cut if you donate to someone's Patreon via Apple's IOS App. AND they sit on the funds for 75 days-- over 2 months!-- making interest while creators watch their bank accounts wither to nothing.

Yet again Big Tech fucks creators.

Do NOT use the Apple IOS APP.
If you pledge to my patreon through the ios app you will pay an additional 30% fee (Apple's fee, they keep all that!) AND your pledge is held by Apple for 75 days. So if you pledge to me in March maybe I will get that money for rent in June.

The kind of class that is increasingly only available at places like Harvard - not because students at public universities aren't clamoring for it (they are) but because public universities are treated as a site for disciplining future workers, not educating people to be free.
“At Harvard, students are clamoring for a class that assigns a hefty book a week, requires regular essays, bans digital devices. Humanities 10 drew 180 applicants for just 90 spots this fall. Students expressed urge to be forced to think for themselves in the age of AI."

Heartbroken to hear about the death of Dolores Huerta. Her work was at the heart of the labor movement. Grateful for everything she did. May her memory be a blessing. Sí, se puede! 💔

Our greatest monument to her memory is for the union she helped found to continue to grow. Dolores fought for farm workers to the very end of her life. The union she helped found will always continue that work. 2/

The United Farm Workers union mourns the passing and celebrates the life of UFW cofounder Dolores Huerta.

The greatest possible tribute to her life is for her work of organizing to continue. 1/

This solid anti-Netanyahu block is the largest ever (compare to Rabin's government or Bennet's).

3. However, in Israel's current racist atmosphere, the "centrist" opposition parties are averse to forming a coalition or a "confidence and supply" agreement with the "Arab parties".

A few comments on Israel's exit polls.
1. The current government has been defeated, falling from 68 seats to 50. They lost about a quarter of their seats. They have no route to form a similar government.
2. The anti-Netanyahu opposition has 70 seats out of 120 - its highest ever result.

In a land of "not learning our lessons", I am currently preparing for kiddo's bat mitzvah, thanksgiving (family is staying), Chanukah, and then same kiddo birthday. That's in a one month period. 😱 If you could... light a candle, make a wish, whatever, that'd be great.

Hey remember a couple months ago when I almost died from sleep apnea and begged y'all to be checked if you have symptoms of sleep apnea?

Eric Bauza just died from sleep apnea. We were the same age. Don't ignore sleep apnea.
Do you get a full night's sleep but wake up feeling like death? Does your whole body feel off in ways you can't explain?

Research signs of Sleep Apnea. Get a sleep test. You can't diagnose it yourself, cuz you sleepin'.

I am old enough to remember when politicians felt the need to hide behind euphemism and obfuscation. As frustrating as these obfuscations were I hope it is becoming clear to all that they were an advance, historically speaking
RFK: "There's five hundred million Arabs in the world. And yet they don't produce science. They don't win the Nobel Prize. They don't win the Fields Prize. They don't win the Wolf Prize. They don't produce literature."
