Trans woman. Compulsive reader.
Hegemony (if the US still has it) is not enough to make war inexpensive and frictionless for empire. Leaving aside the total immorality of American empire, it's also simply not suited to the task it's intended to do.

Whether American elites understand that decides how catastrophic its end is.
The Iran war was not mismanaged. As much as Hegseth makes everything a farce, this is about as close to the best outcome without forcing 2-5m troops through Bandar Abbas. There was no "good" Iran war. People are either lying or being stupid

I've said it before and I'll say it again it's not about the fucking polling the Democratic Party is PERFECTLY willing to tell their base to fuck off on popular policies like Medicare For All that poll between 53% and 60%, throwing trans people under the bus is a

Moreover, ICE must be destroyed

Cis people are out here insisting that trans people take one in the teeth to preserve their 'democracy' because ultimately those cis people don't believe trans people should have rights in the first place.
September 13, 2026 at 4:22 PM
The amount of cis entitlement going around right now is just one more exhausting element of what is an endlessly exhausting environment right now for trans people. We're tired. We're tired of being lied about. We're tired of being condescended to. We're tired of waking up every morning to more shit.

This is as far from the point as you can get, but the professional spokesperson writing 'invoking the Nazi’s and' in a comment to press is a very funny mistake. And is a fascist conjunction now, ig.
Eye-wateringly stupid defence from Rowling’s team here - ‘She does not support legal actions aimed at harming transgender people.’ - Really? So that £70,000 towards the bathroom ban was by accident? The JKR Women’s Fund was made by an impersonator? At least have the spine to admit you want us dead

This is correct. But, also critically, if you built your software in such a way that it becomes impossible to turn it off you are either an incompetent developer or an unforgivably reckless one and either way you're a case study in why SWE's should be subject to licensure and loss of said license.

I think one of the reasons Dems are being pushed to adopt anti-trans positions by consultants is that this is a really favorable landscape for Dems this year. Like, regardless of who the candidates are or what they believe, they'll probably do pretty well.

So they're trying to get candidates to support their shitty anti-trans positions so they can then point to the wins and go, "See!? This is what the people want! More of this, please!"

It's EXACTLY what happened in the UK with Labour (no, I will never shut up about Labour/Dem parallels)

Like... the centrist consultant types have been freaking out at the idea that candidates on the left succeed. So naturally, they get together and start nudging centrist Dems to start pushing anti-trans bullshit.

It's not a coincidence that this is all happening at once.

sorry, but torturing the omelas kid is just a smart move, polling-wise. i personally wish there wasn't a kid in the omelas hole--of course i do!--but let's not get distracted by purity tests, here.

One of the great moral failings of American liberalism is its addiction to American exceptionalism, which leaves American liberals ignorant of the fact that 'compromise with the fascists on their hate issues' always ends in becoming fascists, too.

These people are legitimately so deep in their delusions they are _convinced_ that the problem is that their magic box works too well and not that it barely works at all.
It’s weird how everyone is having big apprehensive reaction about a technology that changes the nature of humanity

The thing that is important to understand is that a rule is never neutral. The biases of its enforcers will always determine who is bound and who is protected and I think we all know who falls in which bucket.

it's so fun how trans people can keep saying over and over and over and OVER again how the catholic church's ban on trans healthcare is one of the most sweeping and draconian and every day liberals & leftist just ignore it to gush about whatever meaningless "progressive" gesture the pope made today

Gloria Steinem, who made anticommunist propaganda for the CIA, sought to achieve power for women primarily in the context of elite access to the levers of Empire, who espoused racist and transphobic beliefs many times, and exemplified much of what is sick and evil about feminism, is dead.

I will never vote for a Democrat that abandons transgender people.

It's a cancer and I'll take the pain of a Republican over losing Democrats as a party and therefore losing our rights for an entire generation with nobody left to fight for us.

We cannot reward this at all.
Iowa Democratic Governor Candidate Rob Sand becomes the latest to throw transgender people under the bus.

In an interview this weekend, he told Politico that "girls sports are for girls," decrying Democrats for being too caught up in "culture war" issues.

File under "reasons cis people's opinions should never matter".
Pew Research Center poll on “transgender athletes competing on sports teams that don’t match their birth sex”:

• 27% of American adults are somewhat/very/extremely comfortable with it
• 73% are not comfortable with it

Democrats are also NOT comfortable with it: 55-44% margin.

I firmly believe that everyone has the ability to create art in them. I also firmly believe that AI 'art' is antithetical to art. Because art is the act of expression. It isn't having an idea, it is the act of bringing a feeling or a moment or place to life. It requires two humans in dialog.
In defence of AI slop: we should embrace open access to creativity, not condemn it

Look past the Donald Trump superhero memes and the new software gives us the chance to democratise creative production. No wonder art’s cultural gatekeepers are worried

FWIW, massive shifts in public opinion tend to occur suddenly after a long period of stressors going unaddressed. What makes this one so interesting is /how/ large it is and how fully it reflects the utter ineptitude of tech capital in the role of would-be governing class.
In possibly the fastest shift in public opinion I've ever seen, local data center approval went from -5 to -65 in less than a year

This is one of the great conceits of those who hold power - that not changing the world away from the world which serves them is not itself a choice. Such logic allows for a great deal of violence and social murder to be rendered natural and faultless. It is not.
I make absolutely no claims about the morality of our world. I just don’t have enough faith in my own virtue and discernment to think that I, and those who hold my political opinions, have a right to reorder society. It’s a question of epistemic humility.
You, too, believe that you are working to preserve a morally necessary better world than the alternatives (the best of all possible worlds, perhaps?) and that you are obligated to protect the order of society.

When I argue to reorder society, it is no different than your argument to preserve it.

This is a pretty typical liberal misunderstanding of the emergence of the modern American far left. It is not that the American far left thought he was one of them and felt betrayed by him being a liberal - it is that they thought liberalism would fix things and discovered it didn't even want to.
Basically the tendency on the far left to view Obama as some sort of traitor to the cause, which, from the point of view of anyone looking at a longer arc of history, is utterly ridiculous.

If you're in Ohio, you shouldn't vote for Amy Acton. Vote third party or don't vote for governor at all.
Anyone who thinks an Amy Acton victory won’t convince Democrats to adopt anti-trans stances should read any related thread on /r/Ohio. The number of liberals and Democrats that have now fully adopted trans sports bans being good in Ohio is unreal.
1. In the aftermath of forcing the Ohio Progressive Caucus to delete criticism of Amy Acton for calling trans girls "boys," progressives were promised a meeting with Acton.

Now, we have learned she didn't show up, and kicked trans people out of the meeting.
