We're a group of global women deeply concerned about ecological overshoot and its drivers: hyperconsumption, population pressure, and the systems and mindsets of power and dominance that have driven humanity to the brink.

Welcome! We're moving here from being an established global women's group on Facebook. We're deeply concerned with intergenerational and Earth justice and human impact on the planet -to bend the curve on hyperconsumption, population, and mindsets and systems of power& dominance driving overshoot🐝🦋
In a crowded world, wars over resources, ideologies and testosterone become even more brutal and destructive than "usual." This film on #Ukraine 's #resilience in the face of multiple threats - past #nuclearcatastrophe, aggressive Russian #invasion, and #climatechange among others - should be good.
Introducing our new documentary in production in Ukraine at a dangerous time: “Climate in a Time of Conflict” by #JohnBowey. Fortitude, resilience: how Ukrainians cope with unpredictability, brutality, toxicity, risk: what we can all learn. Pls share! #climate #conflict youtube.com/watch?v=4yU6...

We have been living in stable times - for over 11,000 years.
Get ready to live in unstable times. It won't be for sissies.
New study: most climate models underestimate the decline of the Atlantic overturning circulation #AMOC. The AMOC is on course to slow by more than 50% by the end of the century. 🌊
Very likely the AMOC will then be past the tipping point for full shutdown. 😨

A vital system of Atlantic Ocean currents is weakening and closer to collapse than thought, new studies find | CNN
New research provides alarming evidence this ocean circulation is slowing and could be heading toward a shutdown, which would have catastrophic impacts on the planet’s weather and climate.

Since the birth of my girls, I’ve wanted a parallel life as a doula. But having watched a southern right whale birth from atop a cliff near my home, this doesn’t surprise me✨

It's a pretty telling commentary on the state of our human 'civilizations' - especially the western one, such as it is.

Thanks @davidho.bsky.social for consistently good stuff on our future, ecological overshoot and what's needed to pull up and out of our messes.

There is no one more on point, starker, blunter, more darkly moving on the state of our planet and civilizations than George Tsakraklides. Please absorb his writing in your morning coffee ruminations. Well worth it.

The rise and fall of Yoon Suk Yeol exposed a vulnerability in South Korean democracy, but also a resilience. Its people were always ready to fight for it.

Someone engaged us yesterday on a common refrain: "It's not population, it's consumption." Well, yes. And no. Let us point out 2 obvious facts. 1. Population is mathematically (very non-linearly) related to consumption. 2. The world is a tragically unequal place. We need to solve both, not bicker.

#Hyperconsumption, #population pressures, and #entitlement #mindsets are at the root of these failures. Let's change that.
Biodiversity strategy 🧵: 4 critical mistakes in conservation.
A. Assuming good intentions+ treaties were almost enough.
B. Failing to shift entitlement mindsets +spiritual traditions.
C. Failing to reform corrosive global & local economies.
D. Failing to scan the horizon for curve balls. 🧵
With just 5 years to go, the world is failing on the Global Biodiversity Framework to conserve and restore biodiversity.
