Get in your car. Drive to the hospital. Demand to speak to the Senator. No more waffling, no more waiting for them to reply. "I see the Senator now, or I assume he's not coming back and call an election when I leave."

Open Your Fucking Heart: Why I Loved Disclosure Day, A Review and Rant in 17 Notes
Spielberg's Disclosure Day is a film of complex emotionality worth wrestling with. It led me to think about my own stubborn hopefulness and the problem with mistaking cynicism for wisdom.

Notifications for deleted shouldn't remain in any OS notification database, and we've asked Apple to address this.

In the meantime, you can prevent any preview text from your Signal messages from appearing in your notifications.

Signal Settings > Notifications > Show “No Name or Content”
NEW: The FBI was able to forensically extract copies of incoming Signal messages from a defendant’s iPhone, even after the app was deleted, because copies of the content were saved in the device’s push notification database, multiple people present for FBI testimony in a trial told 404 Media.

Yes. The founders could not predict this shit show.

We need a mechanism by which the American people can, by constitutional amendment (which is hard and should be hard to accomplish) remove a sitting president.

I'd really like to see leadership calling for impeachment and removal, regardless of whether they have the votes to get it done. Same way we called for marriage equality before we had the votes. A leader's job is to lead. If a genocidal threat isn't impeachable, then nothing is.

If the estimates were right, there were about 9 million people at No Kings rallies today.

That would mean this protest was THIRTY TIMES AS LARGE AS THE TEA PARTY PROTEST which we were told, over and over again, was a massively important sign that US politics had shifted dramatically to the right
Again, the first Tea Party rallies in April 2009 -- heavily promoted in advance by Fox News -- only had about 300,000 attendees across 750 cities, but the media treated it like the Second American Revolution.

There will be multiple *individual* No Kings rallies today that have more people at them.
There's a long, bad journalistic tradition: All conservative grass-roots political movements are fascinating heartland phenomena, all progressive grass-roots political movements are ineffectual bleating. This one is written off as powered by white female college grads--the wine-moms slur, basically.

Hahaha I had forgotten about “short-fingered vulgarian”. Classic.
Donald Trump taking to social media, where anyone can see everything, to desperately cajole our allies into helping him get out of the mess he created, instead of using private diplomatic channels, is a testament to how crass and amateurish our foreign policy is under the short-fingered vulgarian.

According to Oregon SOS there have been 39 cases of voter fraud in Oregon since mail in voting became a thing in 1987. Pretty flippin’ rare.
Not sure who needs to hear this but the voter fraud rate is a mere 0.000003%. Anyone telling you otherwise is making shit up so they can take away your right to vote.
