After 30+ years working in #construction, I've picked up a few tricks.

I've written up how I lay wooden #flooring, from preparing the sub-floor and setting out the first boards to using a flooring nailer, dealing with awkward corners and making a Sapele threshold.

@theabigailthorn.bsky.social I have a Philosophy question: NixOS community surveys found around 5% of respondents identified as non-binary in 2024, with the figure rising in 2025. Is there a connection between questioning social defaults and choosing technology where you can reject the defaults too?

As a Linux user, I believe the UK would benefit from being closer to the EU when it comes to open technology

We're stronger together. When we share code, skills and infrastructure. It's strategic autonomy rather than Digital Sovereignty (DigSo) we need right now!

#Linux #OpenSource #EU #UK #Rejoin
Yesterday, French president Emmanuel Macron said it would be “excellent news’ and “a good decision” if Britain decided to rejoin.
Spain’s prime minister Pedro Sanchez said Britain would be welcome back to the EU "with open arms".

Let’s go! #RejoinEU 🙂

Should the UK rename the post of POTUS to the Un-intelligence Of The United States Of America for the duration of trumps rule.
The reasoning is simple. By Trumps own admission he regards AI has reached a Super Intelligence level, therefore his own intelligence and role is brought into question.
September 29, 2026 at 6:49 PM
I was trying to keep Robin's Lab apolitical, but the recent news that Donald Trump is renaming AI to “Super Intelligence” is just stupid. I mean, a whole other level of dumb even for him.

To be a “Super Intelligence”, it has to outperform humans, not just an idiot in the White House.

Nevermind Andy Burnham. Miliband was right in saying that gov. cannot leave AI up to "tech companies". A corp's primary motive is to max profit and AI progress is a key issue that must be confronted.

So I suggest that the UK moves to #Linux and #Ubuntu for everything. Then teaches it in all schools

I built an oak greenhouse because when you look after a large garden, you need somewhere to raise your baby plants.

Handmade, built to last, and considerably more work than buying one from a garden centre.

I find it quite funny when people complain about “data centres” while posting those complaints on apps whose data is… stored in data centres.

I disagree with too much AI integration, but data centres themselves are pretty cool.

The interesting question is; how do we cool and power them tomorrow?

Hey @pfrazee.com @brittanyellich.com ! 💡 Feature idea: I have just been editing my #hugo site's short-codes. (Adding links etc..).

Highlighting text can be clumsy, and a quick click-to-copy button would make sharing bsky handles vastly easier for everyone. Thoughts?
