Martyr
Do you see what God did to us, his mad modern martyrs,
His desperate sons of a distant father
When courage returned bankrupt
And the blind earth received my blood
I am courageous for myself.

Love, I'm fond of a ponder.
I wrestle with lies, with truth in disguise
Then I look in your eyes and I sonder.

Attended the local #artmuseum downtown last night. It was interesting to experience the difference between art as capitalist commodity in a gallery and art as a public good, with the space to truly engage with it. There is a power in the latter.

Is all the world now Babel
brick and pane and vain names of progress
curbs retaining wind and glass to trick
the eye and light
enlightened striving ever reaching
towers lurching upward to illusive perfection
Hubris! Pierce heaven, usurp the name of god!

Did you close the door behind you?
Did the stars give you your name?
When your finger reached out and plucked,
Did your eye tremble at the sound?
Plumed in hope cacophony may save society.
Will you till your weary fears?

Building, pulsing, surging

never subsides,
but now it grows.
Everything that can
happen tonight will.

Inspired by the time two of me best friends and I went tornado chasing out in #TornadoAlley for eight days. We never caught one, but the exhilaration of the chase and the awe-inspiring scale of the storm systems moving across the plains will stick with me for the rest of my life.

Mirage
Does water remember
the start of the universe,
the blast of diffusion,
being mountains and canyons of glaciers?
Does water remember its movements inside your body,
cleaning, slurping, pissing?
Does water remember flowing between the fractures of my brain?
Does water remember my memories?
