These new laws build on years of successive governments chipping away at our rights, and have come into effect while we’re still waiting for the outcome of the Government’s own review into protest legislation.

They should be upholding our rights, not stripping them away.

TODAY: The Crime and Policing Act has come into effect, bringing with it more anti-protest laws.

Police can now consider "cumulative disruption" of previous protests when deciding to ban a protest, effectively stopping one from happening if another took place the week before on a different issue.

Yesterday MPs and the council leader met with over 50 staff and students at Essex Southend.

The verdict? "A huge lack of engagement" from university management.

The University of Sheffield has stopped paying staff.

Not for striking but for refusing to work unpaid to make up for strike days they were already docked for.

This is punishment, not negotiation. And it’s completely reckless.
