This level of addled reasoning is rampant among the ostensibly-educated, and it's a big problem.

How does he not see it? The "bubble" is keeping out Nazis. That's the point.

Frankly, I'm increasingly convinced that the anti-"bubble" people actually DO want to be around Nazis.
i think, end of the day, the real problem with Bluesky is that most of its users are here *because* they want to be in a bubble. and they can tell themselves that it’s just about not being around Nazis it supporting Musk, and that’s part of it, but also there’s a palpable desire to be ensconced.

Those AI evangelicals really do seem to take the whole thing on faith. I feel like the "societies that worship a computer" episodes of Star Trek are now the most believable ones.

When Musk finally passes I have no doubt there will be an AI simulation of him, and people will worship it.

Confidential to the folks who think "Golden Age" SF/F writers would be sad about current SF/F writers' lack of excitement over "AI": Why would you think the generation of writers who founded SFWA to defend the rights of working SF/F writers would somehow be cool with the plagiarism machine?

Two other Democratic lawmakers in North Carolina who sided with the GOP to overturn vetoes of major bills (e.g. anti-trans legislation) are also losing in their primaries so far to progressive challengers.

It's fascinating how much the right has monopolized the narrative of people getting "canceled." There are actually plenty of high-profile creatives that the alt-right has driven off of projects and IPs.

The thing is, they don't disappear bc they have actual talent.
