When switching from IC to management, the most common challenge is "it's hard know if I'm having an impact" when your impact happens by proxy. This is widely understood.
Tech falling into the same oblivious thinking of "well they aren't committing code so they must be useless" is pretty silly.

I like the sentiment in this post, despite disagreeing with Andrew’s fairly stark anti-AI stances.
In fact, I see AI as a major tool we can use to _enable_ the individual empowerment being called for here.

This is absolutely WILD. Here's the dashboard video posted by @fritschner.bsky.social. Fast forward to about 1 minute. An ICE officer jumps out of a van and pulls a gun on this woman immediately before lying and claiming she "almost ran us over."

These are all fair points, but personally I’m more concerned (and convinced) with open weight models winning over strictly local models.
At least then we’ll have infrastructure provider competition and choice. Seems we’re not too far off from that now really.
