One of the arguments against funding universal school meals in Seattle now is "the money may run out and we'll have to yank the program in 3 years." What's baffling to me about that argument is that the council funds things with literal ONE-TIME money all the time. This is an ongoing tax source!

I wish more journalists would point out that Sen. McConnell and Rep. Tom Kean (missed 4 months of work) are/were essentially on paid sick & medical leave.
The same employment protection they’ve spent their careers blocking other Americans from having.

Just before 9:45pm tonight, Seattle Fire responded to a driver hitting someone walking at Roosevelt Way NE and NE 117th Street in a hit-and-run.
The 28-year-old woman who was hit was transported to the hospital with a broken leg.

The elevator at storage is so annoying. I first thought I went to the wrong floor. It wouldn't let me up then wouldn't let me go to another floor. Realized I went to the right floor the first time. Elevator is going back and I realized I left my keys in the car.

Problem: Drivers keep driving their heavy vehicles into the barrier protecting the people in the bike lane.
SDOT solution: Remove the barrier protecting the people.
Heaven forbid we actually make this safer by removing a lane to create enough space.

Crews moved the barrier back in place many times.
The challenge is that bolting it down requires drilling and we need to be very careful above the transit station roof.
Today we replaced a section near the intersection with tuff curb and posts which are less likely to be pushed into the bike lane.
