It finally rained yesterday and into today, a total of 2.2" (55.8mm) - the most rain we've had here since mid-summer. Runoff was minimal: the land simply absorbed the moisture. Still it got the connecting creek between my two ponds flowing again. Before/After. It had never dried out in 17 yrs here.

If Dec 31, 1972 was just an ordinary day for baseball. What could have been.

I am pleased to announce our next app PraxisVault has been submitted for review at the iOS App Store. This app is designed to make credentialing process easier for physicians, managing all their CME, certifications, privileges, and licenses on their iPhone or iPad. NP and PA versions in the works.

... together in the same area, it is impossible NOT to over/underwater with these systems. For me nothing beats the eyes and a finger in the dirt to know a plant's watering needs. #Gardening #Regrets

Native #daisies. Even with the drought they are having a great year. These are some of the “volunteers” I have made room for in our #garden.

From the "dead plant rack" at Lowes. We have several #Gerbera "annuals" that have overwintered in our greenhouse and bloomed continuously for years. One of my favorite plants. It wants to live and will reward you for saving them. #Gardening #gerberdaisy #flowers

I had to dig up 3 #roses today because of the disease shown below. Known as "Witches Broom," Rose Rosette Disease (RRD) is a fatal viral infection spread by microscopic mites. I absolutely hate killing plants, and these roses once smelled so sweet. Proof again that #Gardening is not for the weak.

Just found a toad sitting in the middle of the living room. Not sure how he got passed the “Cats & Dogs” security system but caught him before the puppy did. He was deported to the garden. #gardening #rurallife

I can't tell you how much I appreciate #artists. I can write. I can code. I can photograph. But I cannot bring visual elements together in a meaningful or impactful way. Every $ spent on freelance work is a $ well-spent. My first FT hire won't be a coder: it will be an artist.

#NorthCarolina #Drought gets worse. If you don't live in NC, chances are good you will be paying more for groceries the rest of the year. Of course, that's a sure thing given the economy drought or no drought. #Gardening #PrayforRain

We are in serious trouble here in North Carolina. The outlook is grim until mid-summer. Water restrictions are starting around the state, making #gardening difficult. #PrayforRain #Drought #NorthCarolina

Every year Carolina Wrens decide to build nests in my Polaris. Every year I try to discourage them.
Every year they win.

Happy World Stationery Day! To everyone who enjoys the feel of well-made paper, who appreciates the heft of a well-balanced fountain pen, this day is for you. Below is a pic of my daily drivers - Pilot for black, Parker for blue, on thick legal pad. #fountainpen #worldstationeryday #paper

I am pleased to report our next product has reached the MVP stage. It will be our first using a #SQL -based storage system (GRDB). On to testing. I admire #softwaretesters. What they do is so critical - yet mind-numbingly boring to me. If you test for a living, I salute you.

Below is the most beautiful coin in my collection: The Athens Tetradrachm. Obverse: Goddess Athena, partial crest. Reverse: Owl, with olive sprig and crescent moon behind all within an incuse square. The coin is almost 2,500 years old. The test cut - likely from a merchant in antiquity...

My example of the final deification issue commemorating the death of Constantine the Great in 337 AD. The obverse shows the veiled profile signifying death, while the reverse combines the pagan elements of the horse drawn quadriga with the "manus dei" hand of God, a Christian symbol. #Romans

I am a serious collector of many things. Below is my ancient #Roman denarius of emperor Vespasian, ca 78 AD. The Romans were slow to deify their dead emperors, a practice that started with Julius Caesar and ended with Constantine - a 400 year period. The Roman imperial cult is my collection focus.
