Reviving Cold-War conspiracy theories of the McCarthy era, the U.S. State Department has released a 99-page report that specifically targets the NLG, along with 39 other organizations, as purported Cuban "front groups.”

Depending on the context, standing firm on human rights might lose you an election. You should still do it IMO.

This is so disgusting and I won't be buying Neutrogena anything anymore.
Worth calling out.

"Panettiere recalled being dropped from her Neutrogena spokesperson role after she discussed her postpartum depression: opening up about her struggles was considered a violation of the common 'morality clause' that allows corporations to dictate celebrities’ public behavior."
Hollywood continues to fail child stars and Hayden Panettiere is the latest casualty | Jesse Hassenger
The untimely death of the Heroes and Scream star was a tragic ending to a life filled with darkness in an industry that still lets its younger stars down

Extremely well done essay by @joelanderson.bsky.social on Jay's shallow engagement with the work and meaning of Black radicalism while shrouding capitalism in its aesthetics to enrich himself.

Jay gets pissy when you call him on it too. It's very Eric Adamsian. "My presence is a present." 🙄 Ok.
This Has Always Been Jay-Z’s Blueprint
Jay-Z said 2026 will be a year of “all offense.” Here’s what that really means.

something important imo that isn't mentioned in the Reuters piece is the fact that, in response to the NAACP suing xAI, Trump's DOJ is trying to *take over the lawsuit as plaintiff* and "voluntarily dismiss" the case

A person who believes in dominating one group is not someone anyone on the left should be in coalition with. You are not just throwing one minority group under the bus by supporting that person, but all of them.

Thomas’s favorite move is to write some absolute nonsense in a concurrence and then keep quoting himself in serial concurrences for years and years until political environment gets tilted enough to make it law/the chief lets him write a majority opinion.
Thomas says in a concurring opinion that the Commerce Clause only allows Congress to regulate interstate “commerce,” not “manufacturing” or “agriculture.” (????)

The arc of the moral universe only bends towards justice if we bend it. There's no karmic comeuppance for fascists.

There's just us. Community and hard work and a willingness to to take risks and fail.

Few things buttress my faith in humanity like this loathing. The fact that the AI overlords have so miscalculated what we would think and whether it would matter is fun too. A bit like the Trump Administration's miscalculation of how Minneapolis would respond to invasion by a thug army.
Former Google CEO Eric Schmidt was booed throughout this commencement speech at the University of Arizona for his praise of AI. This comes just a week after another commencement speaker who mentioned AI was booed at a school in Florida.

Watching a series of former Confederate states rush to eliminate any vestige of black representation in the House pretty much answers the question whether the Voting Rights Act was still necessary.

Marjorie Taylor Green isn’t a known antisemite because she criticizes Israel, she’s a known antisemite because of all the talk about secret cabals, Jewish space lasers, Great Replacement theory, and Jews killing Jesus. Hope this helps some leftists who are mad at AOC for being right about her today
