Four new species in the family Amaryllidaceae have been discovered in Chile: two belonging to the tribe Gilliesieae (𝘎. 𝘳𝘦𝘧𝘭𝘦𝘹𝘢 and 𝘎. 𝘵𝘢𝘨𝘶𝘢𝘵𝘢𝘨𝘶𝘦𝘯𝘴𝘪𝘴) and two to the genus Miersia (𝘔. 𝘯𝘢𝘩𝘶𝘦𝘭𝘣𝘶𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘴𝘪𝘴 and 𝘔. 𝘴𝘶𝘣𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘢).

The East Asian lily genus 𝘈𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘢 has just received a little spring cleaning. 🌼
After comparing physical traits and DNA, researchers found that the named 𝘈𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘢 𝘺𝘶𝘯𝘫𝘶𝘦𝘯𝘴𝘪𝘴 is actually identical to its cousin, 𝘈𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘢 𝘢𝘯𝘩𝘶𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘴𝘪𝘴.

Meet 𝘓𝘺𝘤𝘰𝘳𝘪𝘴 x 𝘹𝘪𝘶𝘪! 🌸 This newly discovered natural hybrid from the Amaryllis family is a cross between 𝘓. 𝘭𝘰𝘯𝘨𝘪𝘵𝘶𝘣𝘢 and 𝘓. 𝘴𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘳𝘪.
It is currently only found on Langya Mountain, China.

A new review provides an updated generic key and looks at the systematic history of the #neotropical tribe Spathicarpeae, which consists of 14 genera distributed from southern Mexico to Uruguay.
