I’m sorry folks, but if you are among those who both understand how insane the Rationalist AI Sex Cult currently running the U.S. AI industry and who can explain it to others, you have a patriotic duty to do so now.

Even though reading their writing absolutely does cause brain damage.

AI frontier labs may be the least ideologically diverse industry in America, and everyone there subscribes to a dense thicket of pseudointellectualism that all collapses to "if you can invent any reason for doing what you want to do, you can tell yourself you are rationally obligated to do it."
I was trying to write about this yesterday because I feel like a clear and neutral explanation for normies about why frontier labs are Like This would be really useful but I just couldn’t bring myself to explain it because it’s so fucking TIRESOME.
i don't like that i feel like we're all getting dragged against our will into an all-media all-the-time LessWrong thread, an insanely annoying and disorienting experience that most people do not have sufficient experience or mental preparations to deal with

These is something... poetic? (fucked up) about the group of people who mostly act mortally wounded having to see a homeless person on the street in SF sending an army of bots out to panhandle on the internet

I don’t agree with much that gets posted on HackerNews these days, but the idea that the heads of the three biggest “AI” companies are all calling for a slow down together because they have hit the end of the road with LLMs seems so like a thing SV startup guys would do, I have to agree.

AI doom or not, something has shifted with AI recently. The guardrails that kept AI sitting in a chatbox are gone, the models are better, there's more compute.

AI agents are everywhere. They are annoying as hell. IMO the situation is going to get much worse

There’s a 100% Chance AI Agents Are Already Ruining the Internet
“AI agents” now have enough power and permission to be extremely annoying online.

I feel it's important to share this again. The internet is so hostile toward creators nowadays. I've seen people have their work stolen, and no longer feel comfortable sharing their creations. We can do better.

Let's be supportive to the people that make this a better place! 💞

Glad folks are appalled by photos of the "phone booth" cage under an awning, but pls understand: This IG report is likely part of a cover-up.

Amnesty Int'l interviewed detainees EIGHT MONTHS AGO who said the cage was half this size (couldn't stand up), had no awning, w feet chained to the bottom.

Seattle, did you know there’s a grassroots organization “Community Not Cameras?”

Right now they are petitioning city council to Invest In Community Violence Prevention.

You can sign that petition and work with them, here is their link tree

For those unfamiliar, Van Halen had a line in their rider that essentially said “no brown M&Ms.” It was a way to see if the promoter had actually read the contract. They had a shitload of gear to tour with, so if they’re skipping one thing, it’s guaranteed they’re skipping something essential.
An AI flyer is a brown M&M test. If your event or business is cutting corners by using an AI flyer, where else are you cutting corners? What else are you cheating out on? Why should I be bothered to go somewhere you couldn't be bothered to promote with a little of your own personality?

Update those vaxes and mask up folks
The U.S. has entered its 13th COVID wave, with an estimated 1 in 86 Americans currently infectious. Around 567,000 new infections are occurring daily, totalling 3.69 million in a week. PMC estimates a single week at this level could result in 900–1,600 excess deaths.

for two months, I've been flying drones over Flock cameras to situation them in space and geography; I even got my commercial drone license in order to do it.

I'd like to share this project with you all: it's called Records Of Enemy Surveillance:

Lone Progressive Dissenters have the highest batting average of being correct in history, yet that does nothing to change the widespread conviction that today’s Lone Progressive Dissenters must be crazy wackos.
Trump's massive surveillance state and attacks on our civil liberties wouldn't have been possible without the PATRIOT Act.

Watch this prescient warning from Russ Feingold, the only Senator to vote against its passage after 9/11.

I cannot overstate the power of sharing and gushing about art you like.

it is *everything*
Pro tip: you don’t have to comm artists to boost and support them. People claim they can’t support artists and creators because they are financially strapped, but they can still boost posts, comment, like, and in general just be supportive! It’s completely free outside of an internet connection ;)

Same reason private equity buys housing they have no intention of renting.

That's the thing about PE, it destroys everything - it's just rent-seeking. PE is actually the Paperclip Maximizer that these guys say we should fear.

whenever I’m discussing child safety laws with a mentor they remind that a lot of people think women (and others) are like children and will extend those rules
“Over the coming days, Stacey found that the parental control profile, to which she had no access, could almost entirely control the car, including its speed, climate control, lock and curfew hours, determining when the car could be driven.”

Awesome reporting. Just remember, if you’re a dad trying to send a photo of your child to the doctor because your child is sick, you lose your digital life, but if you’re a company owned by the richest man in the world you get no punishment.
Over six months, we tracked the appearance of child sexual abuse material on X. We found images from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children's database, which is considered one of the most highly vetted and which many tech companies block on upload. www.nytimes.com/2026/09/11/t...
Elon Musk Has Pledged to Rid His Platform, X, of Child Sexual Abuse, but It Persists
Reviews by the Canadian Center for Child Protection and The New York Times found that explicit images of children remain on the social media site owned by Elon Musk.
