Staying at the Madonna Inn, which is usually really nice. This time though, the people in the room above us are playing loud music all day for the second day in a row. It is loudest inside of our room, and almost imperceptible outside. They themselves are also extremely loud.

I’m working on a puppet as a personal project, and trying some new techniques. I sculpted the basic shapes in monster clay, took a 3D scan, made the sculpture smooth and symmetrical in Nomad, subtracted room for mechanisms, and printed a prototype in foam TPU.

I hope that wherever Dolly is now, she’s with Carl. You could see how hard it was for her to be here without him, and how much of a toll it took. It’s devastating to lose her, but I can only imagine that’s a fraction of what she felt losing him.

I’ve been busy this week meeting with representatives from local unions about the school board race. I’m learning a ton, and am really glad I’ve been taking notes. I haven’t done handwritten notes in long enough I no longer recognize my handwriting, so that’s weird.

Even though I made him, I didn’t actually get a chance to wear Geordi Bear until Sunday night. I took him around the dealer room during the last hour it was open. I usually overheat in these kinds of suits, and it was 110 in Vegas. I was comfortable! #STLV #mascot #fursuit #startrek #TrektoVegas

Gonna be hanging out with my neighbors this weekend, and that’s pretty cool. We’re celebrating one neighbor’s sobriety milestone, and another neighbor is hosting a brunch. It’s nice to all like each other that much.

Very strongly agreed, it was taking us out of the panel focus a lot. Also: try and make sure the panel host is a bit of a subject matter expert in whatever the panel may be about. Doesn’t hurt.
When I’m at a panel, I kind of expect the talent to talk more than the host. This was the panel I was looking forward to the most, and this guy wants to talk over the talent and make quips about everything she says.

Still absolutely reeling from today. STLV is always surreal, but wow. I won the cosplay contest? The judges who I admire very much gave the thing I made the highest score? I wasn’t even sure we would make it to finals, let alone win. It’s made better by sharing it with so many great friends.
