I've said before that transitioning doesn't magically solve all your problems, but for me it gave me a fixed point from which I could move forward with my life (which had seemed to just be on hold until then)
People get demoralized when transitioning when they discover that beyond the initial identification of "the problem," transitioning itself will not make you happy. What it provides is the POSSIBILITY for happiness by allowing you to more easily participate in romance, community and self-improvement

A good example is Brexit. "I can't leave cos EU freedom of movement isn't possible any more".
