I’m gobsmacked. This is appalling harassment of a black woman who is an EXPERT. She was maintaining neutrality and drawing her conclusions about the conflict from evidence and data. That is exactly what an expert should always do. The entire UN body is in question.

When Mia was freed, she declared to the world, “We will dance again.”

When Emily was freed, she turned her injury into a symbol of resilience 🤟.

When Liri was freed, her first message to the world was heart hands 🫶.

These girls are more than survivors—they are heroes.

This could only be written by a Republican! Way to guarantee continued Democrat losses!
Dear Democrats,

Nothing will change until the progressive left is given the chance to lead your party. The 80+ people must pass the torch. Until that happens, I shall keep not blessing you with the outcome you want—victory.

Sorry,

God

Today’s adventures in snorkeling, I made a new buddy friend though he was quite shy. He seemed more orange in person too.

This was eloquently pointed out by physicist JJ Thomson more than a century ago.

If you want R&D to truly thrive in this country, you have to encourage both, but not by tying them more closely together. 3/3

Why is it that when I need to force-reboot my computer by holding down the power button, it feels like I'm choking
it until it passes out? 😏

Saw someone upbraiding someone else for having a hobby while the world is on fire, and, my friends:

1. The world is ever on fire, this is today's conflagration;

2. If you don't find time for rest and joy the fire will consume you;

3. Don't let people shame you for being an entire human.

Today was an example in showing up. I was not feeling it at all. Exhausted and drained from a few rough nights, I just wanted to sleep - but I think it is important to show up for the team so I went and did the things and it was the right thing to do. Sometimes good to remember that. Just show up.

It is almost as if lifestyle factors matter?
🧪Cancer fact of the day: Peto's paradox has led scientists to explore if humans can suppress cancers as effectively as larger mammals do. Elephant cells are more vigilant for cancer than ours, and take potential mutational threats more seriously.

New gravitational-wave results from MeerKAT 📡

Reassuringly, like other pulsar timing arrays, they are seeing evidence for a signal (still at evidence for level, not at detection level)

Interesting, their amplitude seems larger than others. Is it growing?

Yesterday I baked my usual batch of challah and babka but with sourdough starter as base. I usually ensure I put everything in by just keeping track of the number of ingredients. 7 ingredients for challah. I notices the dough was softer than usual but attributed it to the sourdough starter.

My 3yo wants to learn to type and in her learning she has made the font size bigger on my laptop and while I can actually see it all better - it is driving me nuts and I need to reverse it so it is all small and hard to see again!

Last night I attended my kid's gala concert at school. I can see where these incredible choirs come from. The investment in the arts at primary school level is phenomenal and clearly pays off dividends in later creative endeavours. I am still kvelling!

It is incredibly emotional and emotive to hear the students cheering and ululating for the students who have won the academic excellence awards. These kids know how to cheer for eachother - even when they themselves do not get to "win". What a lesson! #AIMS.

It is a place that draws students from around Africa and professors from around the world. You might think I am talking about the gorgeous Muizenberg beach..
