I enjoy few things more than discovering new music, so I'm going to do something I never do a start a thread for new music discoveries. Will largely be weird experimental and progressive metal stuff, but will include other stuff sometimes too.

I have often had to tap out of an action/RPG narrative game and read the rest of the plot online because I couldn't get past some of the encounters.
So being able to experience the entire story in-game is always amazing.

Tried Valheim again with the 1.0 release and yeah I still do not vibe with that game, I don't know why exactly. Gorgeous and the music is great but I just don't have fun.

After really giving competitive Pokemon VGC a try with Champions I think I give up. Yeah, outplaying an opponent is very fun, but getting outplayed is some of the least fun I've ever had in games. The highs are high but the lows are too low for my (admittedly poor) mental game. I'm easily tilted.

This makes me sound like a grumpy old man but I am not thrilled with the Ocarina of Time remake stuff they showed. They are changing so many things that didn't need changing and arguably make the game less unique. It doesn't need a jump button.

Dark Souls ruined action RPGs. While I loved them at the time, every game just copies them now and we are worse for it. No, I don't want every fight to make me sweat, I don't want to have to parry everything, I just want to fight dudes and feel cool and put together cool builds.

Got into the Wardogs beta, did the tutorial, then the beta ended LMAO. Then I tried playing that new Classic+ TERA server and the server crashed right after my character was made and won't be back online tonight. I'm cursed.

Sometimes I play old online games like Phantasy Star Online and wonder if a game like that will ever happen again. Can the industry ever be in a state where games like that are created?

The more I ponder what Mary said here, I think it is VERY important for those who don't like this EVEN IF YOU DON'T STREAM and want to send a message to Amazon on where the Twitch community falls in the genAI discussion to go in their settings and turn this off. The metrics are what speaks to them.

I hate that every kind of guide is video now. I'd kill for text-based tutorials. Sometimes videos are fine but most of the time I just want text and maybe pictures. My focus struggles make it so hard to just sit there and watch multi-hour tutorials on programming or Blender, etc.

2008 was a weird year I guess. Lots of good games but few that felt GotY worthy. Ultimately, WoW was at it's height for me then and I genuinely love Wrath of the Lich King. Felt like Mirror's Edge deserved more, though.

It will forever baffle me how many people just want to play the same game or handful of games all the time with no variety. I get bored. How can you just stick to the same couple games? How can you not want to explore the medium? Branch out; play new stuff.

I'm loving League Classic but sadly it isn't vibing with any of my friends who still prefer modern League for the most part. Bummer for me, but oh well.

This would be so tragic. Twitch is and has been my main form of entertainment (outside playing games) for about 16 years now, and so many fantastic creators have no other real option. It's not like YouTube won't train stuff eventually too (or are already doing it).
Twitch and Amazon are apparently planning to use streams to train Generative AI.
Multiple sources tell me it will be announced in the coming months, despite some internal friction against it. Creators may be able to opt out of some training data.

I think if you needed any more evidence that the cuts are shortsighted and focused on cutting as deep and as fast as possible with little regard for the future, this is pretty definitive. That engine felt like magic in some spots. A colossal waste of talent and resources.
