NAFI's Isometric Room on Sketchfab is CC-BY, free to download, and spins right in the page.

The reason to actually build in isometric: you never have to draw a second view. Walls, the light rig, the props, the whole thing. One shot and you're done. #isometric #b3d

My first try at making a 3D Isometric room in blender with no tutorials. There is a “Toy” character that is rigged aswell but not animated. Includes, Blend, FBX & Simple color pallete Texture. - Isometric Room - Download Free 3D model by NAFI (@naf-i)

Brittany Chiang's portfolio does what every portfolio tries to do: makes you feel like you already know her.

The nav sits left like a table of contents and stays with you the whole scroll, so you're never lost. No carousel, no tag cloud. #portfolio #webdesign

Pixel Salvaje's TinyHouse is an isometric room builder that runs in the browser. You furnish a small house and it reads as a doll's cross-section.

What works: everything is visible at once, so you get a stranger's life from the objects in one screen. No camera, no navigation. #isometric #pixelart

A case study that gets read has a shape: problem, constraint, decision, result. Most 3D portfolios skip straight to the render reel. The render shows what you can do. The case study is what gets you the call.

Lucas Monaco builds the kind of 3D you can scroll through without a loading spinner.

Worth stealing from his site: strip the hero down until there's exactly one thing to look at, and let everything else wait until you're interested. #portfolio #3dart

threesided keeps a lab page of three.js experiments, most of them running full-bleed with no chrome around them.

Steal this: a live demo that fits the screen and loads instantly does more convincing than a screenshot of the same thing. #threejs #webgl
Lab — threesided
A playground for bleeding-edge web experiments — WebGPU compute particles, a WebGL2 fluid sim, CSS Houdini paint, native scroll-driven animations, anchor positioning, AudioWorklet, Three.js, GLSL, view transitions.

You can walk a finished XRfolio room before you make an account. Open the demo, click a poster, the case study opens. That is the whole idea: the navigation is the work itself, not a menu around it. #isometric #portfolio

Bruno Simon's portfolio is a drivable toy car. You navigate by driving, and each project is an object you crash into.

The whole IA is one spatial idea, not a scroll timeline. Expensive. But the lesson transfers: pick one signature interaction and let it carry the navigation. #portfolio

IsoGod by int*pGames. An isometric game built around a single room you keep getting thrown out of.

Worth looking at how the art does the storytelling: the palette stays fixed so every new object you unlock reads instantly as an event. That's restraint doing work. #isometric #3dart

The starter library lists real numbers: that desk is 12 KB and 72 triangles. Furniture, plants, curtains, a console, all CC-BY credited with the author named. You are furnishing a room, not shopping for assets. #isometric #b3d

davinci.wtf opens with a loading bar, then a puzzle.

A recruiter has about eight seconds before closing the tab. This one spends three asking you to do something. It works because the interaction IS the pitch: whoever built it wanted to be on the other side of it. #portfolio #uxdesign

If your portfolio has a 'Download CV' button in the top corner, ask what it's doing there.

Most visitors never click it. A recruiter already has your resume. The space is better spent on one strong project link. Remove anything that isn't earning its pixel. #portfolio

Jo Haynes' Diorama on itch.io: an isometric diorama you can actually play with rather than just look at.

The trick every good isometric piece uses is scale cues. A coffee mug, a book, a plant. Small familiar objects make a whole room feel real without a single texture. #isometric #b3d

Niccolo Fanto's three.js demo page: every experiment is a full-bleed canvas, so you never see the browser UI or the page chrome.

Full-bleed is the cheapest trick that makes 3D on the web stop looking like an embedded widget. It's the difference between a demo and an experience. #threejs #webgl

If you present 3D work, lead with the camera, not the model.

A viewer doesn't care what a scene is made of. They care where they're standing. Pick the one screenshot that shows the space best, make it the first thing they see, and let the geometry be the reward for looking. #3dart #portfolio

Justin Pinkney's site has no images of his work at all. Not one.

He sells the writing instead. Which raises the question every portfolio should ask: what happens to the page if you cut every image? If the answer is nothing, your writing isn't doing any work. #portfolio

Paco Coursey's portfolio leads with one sentence and puts every project behind a command palette.

Each project gets twelve words, not a preview. Twelve words is enough to decide whether you care, and it's faster than reading a thumbnail. Restraint reads as senior. #portfolio #uxdesign

Portfolio tip that costs nothing: cut your home page to one job.

Not a bio, not a resume download, not a nav of six sections. One job: get someone to your work. Everything else is a click they might not make. If your home page is a menu, it's a dead end.
September 30, 2026 at 1:35 AM
Most portfolio case studies are a gallery with captions stapled on. That's the shape of a project, not the shape of a decision.

A hiring manager looks at three things: what problem existed, what you chose, what happened. Everything else is receipt.
