[ANNONCE MANGA 📖]

Delighted to release the latest chapter of the Hugo-nominated Last War in Albion, “The First Time You Saw God,” a novella-length exploration of what actually happened when Alan Moore declared himself a wizard, met a fraudulent snake god, and… faced off with Nick Land?!?!

Insanely proud of this one.
Chapter 5: The First Time You Saw God (The Moon and Serpent Grand Egyptian Theatre of Marvels)
Previously in Last War in Albion: Alan Moore became a wizard. "You know, dear, the first time you saw God was when you were four years old and he put his head to the window and set you ascreaming." -...

Something deeply Takako Shimura about the breather episode of Awajima dealing with yuri eigyou getting in the way of gay romance & Big Gender. Lowkey spicy in that way, so not a bad fit for a director as vivid as the one and only Atsuko Ishizuka

Excellent episode of Awajima this week. A story about inherited trauma through vignettes that span multiple generations, threaded together by an idiosyncratic lead artist who gives them both thematic continuity and pointed stylistic diversity. Worth watching on its own, even better in context

The world-building of Atagoul is influenced by Kenji Miyazawa's fantasy world of Itahov, which he could relate to on an emotional level. Like Miyazawa, Masumura uses neologisms in order to create a feeling of mystery. Masanao Amano describes Masumura's worldbuilding like this:

Episode #02 emphasizes that interconnection, with a bystander of a past tragedy opening the doors of Awajima to one of the previous leads. Friends, foes, and witnesses in someone's story take up different roles in another. And since this is Shimura writing queer theater kids, no one has ANY chill

Gorgeous start for A Hundred Scenes of Awajima. Takako Shimura's collection of vignettes emphasizes the ripples of relationships across multiple generations at a Takarazuka-like school, jumping back & forth as it pleases. Even without covering everything, the anime could assemble a beautiful puzzle
