Grateful that Raya saved the penalty and we won our game.

Martin Keown and Mikel Arteta both described the penalty incident as Ballard doing a judo throw on Konsa and it's hard to argue. Can understand why the ref gave it, but the VAR should be inviting him to have a look and review.

We’ve won all our games, but I’m a little worried about how referees appear keen to make an example out of us. Punishing our throw ins, negating our corners, giving nonsense yellows, ignoring pens, giving absurdly soft calls. If felt last season that things were a little smoother on that front.

The more I see the Sunderland penalty the more I would've been furious if it had been scored.
Ballard and Konsa are both wrestling, then Ballard grabs Konsa and drags him down on top of him. It isn't obvious on first viewing and it's very clever from Ballard.

They just showed the replay of the scrum that earned Gabriel a yellow card and it's even more embarassing for the referee to have shown him one.
He did absolutely nothing wrong - came in to get between opponents and his downed teammate and basically didn't touch anybody.

Raya's penalty save so important, Bruno's goal absolutely sensational especially given his Newcastle connection, but I loved the fight and determination.

I do wonder what viewers around the world think of games like this. Is watching one side allowed to do what Sunderland were fun?
Closest I can compare it too was France-Paraguay in the World Cup and that was a struggle to watch as a neutral.
